5 On My TBR| Spooky Season

As we’ve mentioned before, one of our most important reading goals of is shrinking our physical TBR’s. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books we still have or what subjects to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.

This week’s topic is spooky season. I’m a scaredy cat, but I do enjoy the occasional spooky book. The atmospheric books are the best on a cold rainy day. So here are five books on my TBR I’m hoping to read this spooky season.

The Thirteenth Child – Erin A. Craig

The Sisters of the Salt series by this author is darker, atmospheric, and even a bit spooky. If I’m correct the main character in The Thirteenth Child is one of the sisters from that series. The synopsis mentions ghosts and going against the will of Death. I’d say this is perfect for this time of year.

Rules for Ghosting – Shelly Jay Shore

Even though our main character sees ghosts and works in his family’s funeral home, I know Rules for Ghosting is going to be more of an emotional/heartwarming story than a spooky one. I enjoy cozy stories like this as well during this time of year.

Best Hex Ever – Nadia El-Fassi

You have me sold if our main character is a baker that makes magical pastries. What makes Best Hex Ever even better is that our main character is cursed. Anyone who starts developing feelings for her gets bad luck. Another perfect read for spooky season.

Mister Magic – Kiersten White

All I know is that Mister Magic is about five actors that were in a TV show that there’s no surviving evidence of (no video, no scripts, no nothing). They’re lured somewhere and start to wonder if they’ve walked into a trap. Sounds pretty creepy if you ask me.

Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect – Benjamin Stevenson

Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone is a book I enjoyed more than I expected, so I want to read the next book in this series. This time our main character is on a train with other writers and one of them ends up dead, they all start to investigate the murder. I hope I love this one just as much as the previous book.

So here are five books I’m hoping to read this spooky season! What are some spooky books you have on your TBR? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
