I only work a total of four days in September, and I’ve been trying to think of a reading challenge for myself. Last year I did 30 books in 30 days. I was thinking about that again, but I’ve already accomplished that a few times on my own this year.
If you’ve read my TBRs, you know I host a series slayers read with a friend, and finishing series is always a goal for me. So I’ve decided to also try and do more of this during my time off. So I’ll be trying to slay some series in September.
There are so many series I’m in the middle of, and I want that to change. So in September, I’ll be reading as many sequels as I can. Of course, I also have eARCs and other things to read, but with this much time off, I should be able to get quite a few in. Here are some I’m hoping to read this month.
Cursed Fates – Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti
Apparently I started this one over two years ago (it doesn’t feel that way honestly), and I’m over halfway through Cursed Fates. I think I still remember enough to start where I left off, but now that Zodiac Academy is complete, I want to finish. This series is also good for my big books goal.
The Well of Ascension – Brandon Sanderson
The Well of Ascension is another book I started this year, and I’m pretty far. I’m loving this story, but I end up getting distracted by other books, haha. It would be great if I could catch up with all Cosmere books before the next Stormlight Archive book releases in December. Brandon Sanderson writes big books, so this will be a challenge.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea – T.J. Klune
Somewhere Beyond the Sea is a really new sequel, but it is one I’m really excited about. The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books, and I can’t wait to get more about these characters. I love that we’re getting Arthur’s story!
As Good As Dead – Holly Jackson
I loved the first two books in the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, and I only need to read the third and final book. I actually started this book around the time it came out, but as I said before, I get easily distracted by other books, haha. After watching the TV adaptation, I’m even more excited about finishing this series.
Charm – Tracy Wolff
The Crave series is one I’ve invested some time into. It’s not the best series, but it’s one I just can’t stop reading. I need to know what happens to these characters. Charm is one of the two books I need to read to complete this series. There has actually been a spinoff released this year, and I want to finish this before giving that one a go.
House of Flame and Shadow – Sarah J Maas
After the ending of House of Sky and Breath, I was anxiously awaiting this book. For some reason I haven’t sat down and read House of Flame and Shadow yet. I think it was getting so much attention, and the hype was just a bit too much. I do really want to know how Bryce’s story continues.
Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J Maas
Out of all of the sequels I want to read this one, Kingdom of Ash is the one I’m the most surprised I haven’t read yet. This has been on so many TBRs, and Isabelle and I even picked up this book at the bookstore on release day. Throne of Glass is one of my favorite series, and I guess I just don’t want it to end.
The Crown of Gilded Bones – Jennifer L. Armentrout
Another series I really need to continue with is the From Blood and Ash series. I loved the first two books, and there are so many books out now! I’m still deciding if I need to reread the first two before continuing!
So here are some of the sequels I really hope to read this month. If I get to them all, it would be a great accomplishment. Also, most of these are good for my goal of reading big books, haha. Have you read any of these? What book should I start with? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
