It’s Wednesday, so time for a new WWW Wednesday to talk about my reading progress and plans. I really love these posts and talking more about what I’m reading before the monthly wrap up. Even if my reading plans change I like thinking about what I’m going to read!
So it’s time for my next WWW Wednesday. This is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words and you participate by simply answering three questions:
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
What did you recently finish reading?
Silent Sister – Megan Davidhizar
Silent Sister is a book I picked up and couldn’t put down. Our main characters, sisters Grace and Maddie, go missing on a school trip. Grace is found with no memory and Maddie is nowhere to be seen. We read this book through Grace’s eyes and it had me hooked. I had a couple of theories and one came true, but this was such a good book. It’s more than a mystery, but also about identity and how you see yourself. I’ll definitely read more by this author!
American Royals – Katharine McGee
American Royals has been on my shelves for just about five years and I finally read it. I enjoyed the concept of there being a monarchy instead of president in the US. There’s a lot of drama and I didn’t like all of the characters, but the story was entertaining. It was a fast and fun read!

Majesty – Katharine McGee
After enjoying American Royals last week, I decided to read the second book during my commute to and from work. It’s also been on my shelves for quite some time and I’m into the story already. I will say the beginning of the book takes time to remind you of everything that’s happened, and that seemed a bit repetitive after just finishing book one. It’s still entertaining though and I’m excited to see where this story goes.
The Girls I’ve Been – Tess Sharpe
The Girls I’ve Been is another one I’ve had for a while and was curious about. I’m almost halfway through at the moment and I love the story so far. It’s told in two timelines: present and past. Our main character has been many people and we’re slowly reading everything she’s been through. Even though not a lot is happening, there’s still a lot of tension and a good pacing to the story. I’ll definitely pick up the sequel.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Four Eids and a Funeral – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé & Adiba Jaigirdar
I’ll be reading Four Eids and a Funeral for a group read this month and I’m excited about it. I’ve read books by both of these authors separately, but never one by both of them. Our main characters are ex best friends who must work together to save their Islamic center from demolition.
Better than the Movies – Lynn Painter
I’ve already read Better than the Movies twice (eARC and audiobook), and it was a five star read both times. Nothing Like the Movies releases in October and I want to reread this one again before I read the sequel. I bought the paperback, so I can highlight my favorite parts this time around.
So that’s another WWW Wednesday! Have you read any of these? Or are you reading anything amazing at the moment? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
Silent Sister sounds great, have added it to my TBR! If you’re at all into cosy fantasy then I would massively recommend The Spellshop, it was adorable and feel-good but still had a great story and characters.
