Bookish Item| August TBR

I’m definitely becoming a broken record, but 2024 is flying by! I can’t believe I’m already thinking about my August TBR. It’s actually only halfway through July when I’m typing this, but it’s still a weird idea. That being said, I don’t always stick to my TBRs, but I still love making them. So let’s see what books I’m hoping to read next month.

Group Reads

The Pairing – Casey McQuiston

My swoon read for August is going to be The Pairing. So far I’ve read and loved all of Casey McQuiston’s books. Even if nothing has beat Red, White & Royal Blue up until now. In The Pairing two exes accidentally book the same European tour and challenge each other to a hookup competition. We all know this is going to be interesting.

Cage of Dreams – Rebecca Schaeffer

This month I’m reading City of Nightmares, and I haven’t started it yet, so I can’t tell you what I’m thinking about this one at the moment. For my series slayers, I’ll be reading the second book in this duology in August. Readers I know seem to love these, so hopefully I do too.

Four Eids and a Funeral – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé & Adiba Jaigirdar

Four Eids and a Funeral caught my eye when I saw that our two main characters are ex-best friends and that they synopsis tells us it’s going to be a love story. These former friends come together to save their Islamic Center from demolition. I have a feeling this is going to be heartwarming, but also emotional? I’m excited to pick this up!

eARCs

Rules for Ghosting – Shelly Jay Shore

I’m starting spooky season a little early with Rules for Ghosting. If I understand the synopsis our main character ends up falling in love with a ghost? I think is going to be a great read.

Death at Morning House – Maureen Johnson

Maureen Johnson is the author of the Truly Devious series and it’s one that I love! So I don’t need to tell you that I was excited when she announced Death at Morning House. Our main character, who is a tour guide on an island, discovers a mystery that needs to be solved before history repeats itself. I didn’t read more of the synopsis than that, because I like going into mysteries and thrillers without knowing very much.

Backlist/Physical TBR

How to Make Friends with the Dark – Kathleen Glasgow

For some reason I’ve been putting off reading How to Make Friends with the Dark. I know this author writes books that hit you pretty hard emotionally, and seeing how our main character loses her mother in this one, I know it’s not going to be an easy read.

Never Ever Getting Back Together – Sophie Gonzales

I’ve only read two books by this author and a third she was a co-author of, and I’ve given them all five stars. Never Ever Getting Back Together is one I’m really excited about and it’s even on my 24 books in 2024 list. I love the concept of this book taking place on a reality show and that two contestants are going to fall in love.

The Beautiful – Renee Ahdieh

The Beautiful is another book that I’ve been wanting to read forever. It released in 2019, and I did start reading this one, but I ended up getting distracted (like I normally do). I know Isabelle enjoyed this series, so it’s time for me to enjoy it as well.

So here are the books I’m hoping to read in August. I definitely read more than this, but I’m loving giving myself the chance to just mood read. Do you have any August reading plans? Or is there a book you think I should read first? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
