Wishlist Wednesday | Most Anticipated August 2024 Releases

It’s that time of month again where we take a look at the books hitting the shelves next month. We’re about to prepare for August and nearing the end of summer and that’s such a crazy idea! So keep on reading to see what our most anticipated August releases are.

The Pairing – Casey McQuiston (August 6th)

Casey McQuiston wrote one of my favorite books: Red, White & Royal Blue. So far I’ve read everything by this author and Casey has turned into an auto-buy author. The Pairing sounds like another book I’ll love. I’m always looking for new rom-coms and the synopsis has me curious. Two bisexual exes accidentally book the same European trip and challenge each other to a hookup competition. This is going to get messy and dramatic, haha.

The Dead Cat Tail Assassins – P. Djèlí Clark (August 6th)

I adored P. Djèlí Clark’s A Djinn in Caïro series and I have been eagerly anticipating another release by him. This book sounds like something I would highly enjoy, the title alone has me excited already!

Death at Morning House – Maureen Johnson (August 6th)

I really enjoyed the Truly Devious series (although I still need to continue beyond the original trilogy) and I’m always interested in a fun YA mystery. This one sounds like a good summer read!

This Ravenous Fate – Hayley Dennings (August 6th)

A fantasy set in Jazz Age Harlem and that has vampires? Sign me up! I actually have an eARC that I’m hoping to dive into soon. I’ve heard some great things about This Ravenous Fate so far.

Apprentice to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer (August 8th)

Assistant to the Villain was such a fun read last year and I wasn’t expecting the ending to give us such a cliffhanger. I’m excited to continue this story and Kingsley on this cover has me a bit worried. I have a feeling I’ll be flying through this one as well.

I Need You to Read This – Jessa Maxwell (August 13th)

I still need to read The Golden Spoon by Jessica Maxwell but I can also add her newest release to my list. This one sounds very intriguing, I love that it has to do with an advice columnist and I can’t wait to dive in!

Ghostsmith – Nicki Pau Preto (August 13th)

Bonesmith was such a pleasant surprise for me this year and I’m so glad we get the conclusion soon. The magic and world really had me hooked and I need to know how Wren’s story is going to continue and see if we get some more twists and turns along the way.

Under the Surface – Diana Urban (August 13th)

An epic survival-thriller about four teens who get lost in the Paris catacombs for days and a story about teens lost in the dark beneath the City of Light and the race to find them. Honestly, what more do you need to know? I know I’m sold already!

The Break-Up Pact – Emma Lord (August 13th)

All I needed to know that The Break-Up Pact has fake dating. Especially knowing that it’s two best friends who are going to fake date. I have a feeling this is going to be emotional and messy, but all worth it in the end.

My Salty Mary – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows (August 20th)

Finally another story by the My Lady Janies authors! I have been loving all of their books and after seeing (and loving) the tv show for My Lady Jane I couldn’t wait to dive in a new story by them. Luckily I got an eARC, so I already started reading it! This is a remix of The Little Mermaid and the lady pirate Mary Read, with Blackbeard in the mix as well.

Wisteria – Adalyn Grace (August 20th)

Belladonna was such a pleasant surprise earlier this year and Foxglove as well when I read it recently. The ending of Foxglove has me anxiously awaiting the release of Wisteria. I can’t wait to see how this story continues.

The Enchanted Lies of Céleste Artois – Ryan Graudin (August 27th)

Another Ryan Graudin book to add to my list! I have been wanting to read a book by this author for forever now haha. All the books have super interesting synopses so I have high hopes. This fantasy has a con artist in early 1900s Paris, sign me up right away!

So here are the August releases we’re most looking forward to! Do we have any in common? Or are we missing books you think we need to know about? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
