We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Ten Things I Loved About… and you’re supposed to pick a book and talk about 10 things you loved about it. I very recently read both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame and since I haven’t done a review on them yet, I thought it would be fun to use them for this post. So let’s jump in and see what 10 things I loved about Fourth Wing and Iron Flame!

1. Dragons

Do I really need to explain this one? I love dragons like any normal person so this is definitely part of what sold the bookseries on me haha. The dragons also did not disappoint! They were awesome and terrifying and cool and sassy and just overall perfection.

2. Basgaith

I love a good boarding school, especially when it’s a magic school. This was more militairy school than magic school but I still loved the setting. There is just something about all these people living and learning together that I adore in my books.

3. The scribes

As a booklover, of course I loved the scribes. I also loved that they had a pretty important role in this world and I enjoyed how much we saw of them. Hopefully that will be even more in the next book(s).

4. Found Family trope

This is one of my favorite tropes and it did not disappoint here. I love seeing characters come together and bond over something. While they didn’t necessarily chose each other, they did choose to stick together the way they did and I personally loved it.

5. Enemies to Lovers trope

Another favorite trope of mine! I think this is one of the two best romantic tropes out there and it’s one of the things that always peaks my interest in a book. It is very well done in these books and I’m so curious to see what will happen next with these characters.

6. The cliches

There are some plot points/twists that are pretty predictable or pretty cliche but they are cliches for a reason and I enjoyed them for sure. I don’t want to say too much on this one because it will give away some spoilers but you can trust me on the cliches haha.

7. The heartbreak

This might be a weird thing to love but I do love a book that can give me a good heartbreak. And these books did just that! At the end of Iron Flame I had to send a picture to some friends of mine who are also reading the books (I influenced my coworkers and I couldn’t be happier!) of my crying face haha. And I just saw a tiktok with some of the cruel things Rebecca put us through and I started crying again!

8. Tairn (and most of the other characters)

I really enjoy the characters in this series and I truly hope all of my favorites survive (beyond this point, because we know it’s already to late for some….). Out of all of them, Tairn deserves a special shout out. I can not convey how much I love all of the stuff he says. He’s hilarious and brutal and just perfection. I have for sure shed a tear of two over some of the things he said.

9. The plot twists

I have literally screamed out loud while driving because of a plot twist in the second book haha. It was something I never ever saw coming and my yell was insane but also kind of hilarious haha. There are multiple plot twists in these books and I really enjoyed them.

10. The graphic audiobooks

These are INSANE! And also the reason I finished each book in a day or two haha. I wish all audiobooks were like this, even though I couldn’t listen to them on my normal speed.
There are sound effects, there is music, you get a full cast, and some descriptors are ommitted as they are incorporated in the manner something is said or with sound effects. I can not convey how much I loved these!
