As we’ve mentioned before, one of our most important reading goals of is shrinking our physical TBR’s. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books we still have or what subjects to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is poetry. That’s a problem for me, because I’m not a poetry reader. Last week’s theme is coming of age and I love those stories, so let’s see what stories I still have on my TBR.
Leah on the Offbeat – Becky Albertalli
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli is a favorite contemporary book of mine. Leah is Simon’s best friend and I remember reading about her. This is Leah’s story and I’m shocked I haven’t read it yet, because Leah on the Offbeat released in 2018.
Radio Silence – Alice Oseman
Alice Oseman is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. I loved Heartstopper and have read a couple of their other books. All I know is that a fandom is a big part of this book and our main characters bond over this. I can’t wait to read it.
The Serpent King – Jeff Zentner
Jeff Zentner is an author I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about and I own three of his books. I’ve heard The Serpent King is a very emotional read and I know our main character hasn’t had an easy life.
I Hope This Doesn’t Find You – Ann Liang
I Hope This Doesn’t Find You is compared to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in the sense that our main character also wrote letters. Except in I Hope This Doesn’t Find You she write hate letters instead of love letters. When these emails go public we all know her life is about to get really complicated.
Every Time You Go Away – Abigail Johnson
Both of our main characters have suffered grief in one way or another. I know this is going to be a very emotional read, but I’m hoping Ethan and Rebecca can support each other through everything and maybe even grow stronger.
So here are five coming of age stories on my TBR! Have you read any of these? Or what books are on your TBR? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
