Tag | Try a Chapter: Netgalley Edition Part 10

A little while ago I used a try a chapter tag to see if I was still interested in the older eArcs I haven’t read yet. While I was excited for them when I requested them, my reading tastes have changed a bit and some of these books just aren’t for me anymore. I have not nearly enough time to spend it on books I don’t enjoy or I’m not excited about so I have to make some decisions. It’s been a while since I’ve last done one of these, so I think it’s the perfect time to do another one. Let’s see what I think after the first chapters!

The Midnight Lie – Marie Rutkoski

There don’t really seem to be chapters in my eARC so I kinda had to go with something that seemed like I had read at least one chapter haha. I still haven’t read The Winner’s Curse, even though I want to. And maybe that would’ve made reading this easier because I have no clue what is going on. It kind of makes me want to not read this if I’m being honest. Although I’m also a bit curious haha.

Incendiary – Zoraida Córdova

I really liked the Zoraida Córdova books I’ve read so far so I was very much interested in this one. And after reading the prologue, I for sure want to continue reading this one. I’m already invested, the magic system seems interesing and I can’t wait to learn more about this world. The synopsis sounds interesting and I can’t wait to read more.

Chosen Ones – Veronica Roth

The synopsis for this one sounds great and like something I could really enjoy. But this first chapter didn’t do anything for me. I don’t care about the characters (yet) and there doesn’t seem to be a plot yet. After reading a couple of reviews I think it will take a while before there is something that might be the plot and I don’t think I have to patience for that to be honest. I was disappointed by the last Veronica Roth book I read and I think her work might just not be for me.

After reading these first chapters I removed Chosen Ones from my TBR, that one just isn’t for me. I definitely want to continue reading Incendiary and I’m still on the fence about The Midnight Lie. Let me know in the comments what you think I should do!
