Yesterday the winners of the Goodreads Choice Awards were announced. And of course I was really curious to see which ones had won. Last week I shared which nominees I had read. And today I thought it would be fun to take a look at the winners and see whether I had read them, wanted to read them or didn’t have any interest in them. Let’s jump in!
Fiction:

Yellowface – R.F. Kuang
Read
This is the only one I’ve read haha. I did also vote for this one as I loved it a lot. So far I’ve loved every R.F. Kuang book I’ve read and I can’t wait to pick up more of her work. I still have Babel on my TBR and I hope we’ll get an announcement about her newest work soon.
Historical Fiction & Debut Novel:

Weyward – Emilia Hart
Nah
I’m not completely sure about this one! On the one hand I like that this has 3 timelines and seems to be about strong women. But also, not really my cup of tea I guess. The reviews are all over the place and I just don’t see myself picking this up.
Mystery&Thriller:

The Housemaid’s Secret – Freida McFadden
Nah
I love mystery/thrillers but this is a sequel and I haven’t read the first book yet. Also, I’m not really interested in the first one. It doesn’t really sound like the type of mystery I enjoy so there’s little to no chance I will ever read this sequel.
Romance:

Happy Place – Emily Henry
TBR
This one was difficult to decide! I don’t read that much romance and I haven’t read an Emily Henry book yet. But I have to say I like the sound of the synopsis. If I do pick up a romance book this might be one I will enjoy.
Romantasy:

Fourth Wing – Rebecca Yarros
TBR
Of course I want to read this one! Everyone seems to have read it and I still want to try Rebecca Yarros’ work. Also, this is about dragon riders so that sounds like a ton of fun. Sign me up!
Fantasy:

Hell Bent – Leigh Bardugo
TBR
I love Leigh Bardugo and want to read everything she writes. So yes this is on my TBR. But it’s also the second book in a series and I have yet to read the first book in the series. So I want to read this if I like the first book, I do have high hopes for it though!
Science Fiction:

In the Lives of Puppets – T.J. Klune
TBR
I’ve loved the T.J. Klune books I’ve read so far and I’ve seen great reviews for this one. This has machines as main characters and I’m really excited to see how that all works. I’m in the mood for science fiction more and more so hopefully I can read this one soon.
Horror:

Holly – Stephen King
Nah
I haven’t even looked at the synopsis, horror just isn’t my genre. Stephen King is a writer I am interest in, I liked some of his work and would love to read more but I scare super easy so no horror for me haha.
Young Adult Fantasy:

Divine Rivals- Rebecca Ross
TBR
I have a copy of this one and I can’t wait to read it! The reviews are super positive and it sounds like a book I would enjoy a lot. While I’m not sure when I’ll pick this up, I do hope it’s soon. The sequel releases at the end of this month!
Young Adult Fiction:

Check & Mate – Ali Hazelwood
Nah
I haven’t read any Ali Hazelwood yet and if I do pick up one of her books I don’t think this will be the first one. Fiction isn’t my preferred genre in general so it has to be a specific author or a really appealing synopsis for me to be interested in it.
Nonfiction:

Poverty, By America – Matthew Desmond
Nah
I hardly ever read nonfiction and when I do this isn’t a subject matter I would pick up I think. Usually it’s more psychology stuff or something to do with sports or science.
Memoir&Autobiography:

The Woman in Me – Britney Spears
Nah
Again, this is just not the genre I’m interested in. While I was a Britney fan when I was growing up and I’m somewhat curious about what she has to say I don’t think I’ll ever pick this up.
History&Biography:

The Wager, A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder – David Grann
Nah
I’d consider this nonfiction as well, and like I said, I have to be really interested in the subject matter to ever pick this up. So this is another no from me. There definitely are nonfiction books I enjoy and want to read but this just isn’t one of them.
Humor:

Being Henry, The Fonz… and Beyond – Henry Winkler
Nah
Not my genre, and I also have no clue who this person is. So there is no way I would ever even look at this book in the bookstore. I’m sure it’s funny but no thank you haha.
It was fun looking at the Goodreads Choice Awards winners this way! There are certain categories I probably will never read. But I was also surprised by my decision for some of the other categories! Have you read any of these books? Would you recommend them to me? I would love to hear from you in the comments!

I haven’t even glanced at the Goodreads Choice Awards but these all sound like great reads! I definitely want to pick up Britney Spears’ memoir.
