Review| Holiday Romance – Catherine Walsh

At the moment I’m in a very Christmas mood. I’ve been watching Hallmark Christmas movies and I recently started my holiday reading. A friend and I decided to buddy read some Christmas book and Holiday Romance was most recent book. Today I want to tell you about this book and what I thought. Keep on reading to find out more!

She’s meant to be catching flights, not catching feelings…

Molly and Andrew are just trying to get home to Ireland for the holidays, when a freak snowstorm grounds their flight.

Nothing romantic has ever happened between them: they’re friends and that’s all. But once a year, for the last ten years, Molly has spent seven hours and fifteen minutes sitting next to Andrew on the last flight before Christmas from Chicago to Dublin, drinking terrible airplane wine and catching up on each other’s lives. In spite of all the ways the two friends are different, it’s the holiday tradition neither of them has ever wanted to give up.

Molly isn’t that bothered by Christmas, but—in yet another way they’re total opposites—Andrew is a full-on fanatic for the festive season and she knows how much getting back to Ireland means to him. So, instead of doing the sane thing and just celebrating the holidays together in America, she does the stupid thing. The irrational thing. She vows to get him home. And in time for his mam’s famous Christmas dinner.

The clock is ticking. But Molly always has a plan. And—as long as the highly-specific combination of taxis, planes, boats, and trains all run on time—it can’t possibly go wrong.

What she doesn’t know is that, as the snow falls over the city and over the heads of two friends who are sure they’re not meant to be together, the universe might just have a plan of its own…

A totally gorgeous and escapist friends-to-lovers festive romance with a swoon-worthy hero. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Mhairi Macfarlane, and Christina Lauren.

Review
In my opinion, Christmas romances need to be feel good and leave a smile on my face. Holiday Romance did this and then some. This book was such a pleasant surprise and I’m glad it’s one of the books I decided to read to start my holiday reading.
Molly and Andrew have been friends for 10 years and fly home to Ireland together every year. It’s become a bit of a tradition for them. I loved that we got little flashbacks to all of their flights together and things that have happened to get them where they are today. This year is a bit different though, because a snowstorm may just ruin their plans. That is until Molly’s friend is able to get them another flight. It may be the long way to get to Ireland, but they will make it home for Christmas. Won’t they?
The adventures Molly and Andrew go through (lost luggage, long flights, an awkward kiss under the mistletoe…) were nuts, but so much fun. It was clear there may just be a little more there than friendship, but it’s interesting to see if they take the risk. These characters had me laughing and just wanting to give them a hug. Add in their loving, if not handful of families and we get a true holiday. This really is a book you need to experience yourself, so I don’t want to say too much. The only thing I would’ve loved to see is a few chapters from Andrew’s POV.
If you’re looking for a holiday read that will keep you warm on a cold, dark night, I definitely recommend Holiday Romance! It definitely put me in the Christmas spirit!
Holiday Romance will definitely be a favorite Christmas read of 2023! I really enjoyed this book. When this comes online, I’ll already be a few chapters into Catherine Walsh’s newest Christmas read, Snowed in! Will you be reading any holiday related books this year? Or have you already? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
