It’s Wednesday, so time for a new WWW Wednesday to talk about my reading progress and plans. I really love these posts and talking more about what I’m reading before the monthly wrap up. Even if my reading plans change I like thinking about what I’m going to read!
So it’s time for my next WWW Wednesday. This is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words and you participate by simply answering three questions:
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
What did you recently finish reading?
Neon Gods – Katee Roberts
I’ve seen the Dark Olympus series all over the place since it released and we’ve gotten new books in the series. I finally sat down and read Neon Gods. The Persephone and Hades retelling was really good and I couldn’t put this one down. I’ll definitely be reading the sequel soon.
Hide – Kiersten White
Horror isn’t a genre I normally read, but I’ve been curious about Hide. The idea of characters hiding in an abandoned amusement park to win money caught my attention. It was an interesting story, but the change of POV was awkward and made it hard to really connect with the characters. All in all, still an interesting read.
Pretend You’re Mine – Lucy Score
Lucy Score is an author I’ve been wanting to read more from, so I picked up Pretend You’re Mine last month. This book is almost 500 pages, but didn’t feel like that at all. This is a fake dating romance and I loved this emotional story. I’ll hopefully get to the other two books in this series soon.
What are you currently reading?
A Court of Thorns and Roses – Sarah J Maas
So I haven’t read A Court of Silver Flames yet, so I decided to do a reread of this series. Even though the main characters are different in that one I want to dive back into this world. I’m over halfway through now and it’s surprising me how many details I’ve forgotten. This is my third time reading A Court of Thorns and Roses and the last time was six years ago, so maybe it’s not that weird I’ve forgotten some things.
If He Had Been with Me – Laura Powlin
If He Had Been with Me is a book I’ve been seeing around a lot more recently and people kept saying that it’s really sad. I’m always curious about emotional stories, so I decided to give it a try. I’m about 80 pages in and we’re getting to know the characters still. So it’ll be interesting to see how this becomes tragic.
The Lake House – Sarah Beth Durst
Another horror/thriller book for me this month! That doesn’t happen often. I’m only a few chapters in, but it’s quite intense. I can’t imagine arriving at an off the grid camp and seeing the house you’re supposed to stay in burned to the ground and no way to get help. I don’t think I’ll be reading this one at night, haha.
What do you think you’ll read next?
All Systems Red – Martha Wells
My book club voted to read the first Murderbot novella, All Systems Red. I read this in March of last year, but I need a little refresher. It’s only 152 pages, so it won’t take me that long to read.
The Long Game – Elena Armas
So I had my followers on bookstagram vote what eARC I should read first out of a few choices. The Long Game seems to be a reverse grumpy/sunshine romance and I’m here for it. I have a feeling I’m going to love this one.
Curves for Days – Laura Moher
This is the second eARC that was chosen in my bookstagram poll. Which is a coincidence, because it’s another grumpy/sunshine romance. Angus is the grump and feels like has a debt to pay before deserving love. He’s the contractor on Roses’ new house and she’s definitely the sunshine in this one. I’m excited to sit down and read this.
So that’s my first WWW Wednesday in about a month! It felt good to post one again. What have you been reading lately? Anything you think everyone needs to read? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
I’ve really been into horror lately so Hide and The Lake House have definitely piqued my interest. I’ll have to check them out! And sci-fi has been big for me lately too and I’ve heard good things about Wells’ Murderbot series. Hearing that (at least the first one) is in the shorter end is encouraging. That’s another add to my TBR. Great post and have a happy Wednesday! ????
