It’s Wednesday, so time for a new WWW Wednesday to talk about my reading progress and plans. I really love these posts and talking more about what I’m reading before the monthly wrap up. Even if my reading plans change I like thinking about what I’m going to read!
So it’s time for my next WWW Wednesday. This is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words and you participate by simply answering three questions:
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
What did you recently finish?
Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail – Ashley Herring Blake
After loving Delilah Green Doesn’t Care I was really afraid that this one would disappoint, but that couldn’t be less true. Astrid was such an interesting character to read about as well as Jordan. They both have their own issues and have things to work through, but this was such a good book. It was great being back with these characters and I can’t wait for the third book later this year.
The Girl in the Headlines – Hannah Jayne
The Girl in the Headlines was a thriller I was looking forward to reading. I can’t imagine what it’s like waking up one morning not knowing where you are and finding out your parents were killed and your brother is missing. To make matters worse you’re the number one suspect. This book started off really strong and kept me reading, but the ending felt really rushed and not very fitting.
The Words – Ashley Jade
I started The Words last year, but ended up getting distracted (like I tend to do, haha), so I got the audiobook and finished this one on Monday. This book has a lot of angst and drama, but I loved it! I was even tearing up near the end. I’ll definitely be reading The Choice by this author soon!
What are you currently reading?
A Pessimist’s Guide to Love – Jennifer Hartmann
After loving An Optimist’s Guide to Heartbreak I had to start the next book in the duet immediately. When this comes online I’ll probably be done with this, but I had to mention it. I’m loving getting Cal’s POV in this one and I’m still very much invested. These were my first books by Jennifer Hartmann, but they won’t be my last.
Gild – Raven Kennedy
The Plated Prisoner series is one I’ve been wanting to read since last summer. A group of friends from my Discord club decided to read one a month leading up to the release of the next book. We’re reading 10 chapters a week and I’m loving this one so far. It’s definitely darker and has some things that aren’t fun to read, but the story line has my attention. I’ve heard from many people that the first book isn’t the best, but the rest of the series keeps getting better.
The Lies of Locke Lamora – Scott Lynch
For my next in person book club we’re reading The Lies of Locke Lamora. I’m only about 70 pages in, but it’s interesting so far. This fantasy book is one you really have to pay attention to while reading. So when I was sick I didn’t get much of this one done. I have a few more weeks, so I’ll get there.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Before I Let Go – Kennedy Ryan
Before I Let Go is a book I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about since before it was released. This is definitely different than what I normally read in the sense that the couple has been happily married, but life happened. Second chance romances can be interesting and I have a feeling this will be an emotional read.
Kingdom of the Cursed – Kerri Maniscalco
After rereading Kingdom of the Wicked it’s time to read the next book in this trilogy. I’ve heard that many readers enjoyed Kingdom of the Cursed even more than Kingdom of the Wicked, so I’m excited to see where I stand after reading it. The cover is stunning, so I hope I love it.
Things We Never Got Over & Things We Hide From the Light – Lucy Score
Things We Never Get Over is another book I’ve been wanting to read for awhile now. The sequel is releasing next week, so I’d say this is a good time. Seeing how I got an e-arc of Things We Hide From the Light. Both of these are almost 600 pages long, so they will definitely keep me busy.
So that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week! What have you recently read or are currently reading? Any new books you think everyone needs to read? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
I’ve just finished Lies of Locke Lamora and I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to pick it up and read it. It was certainly a book that you need to read carefully though.
