Bookish Item | Feburary TBR

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to start talking about what I want to read in February. My TBR was very ambitious in January, but I have to say I’m doing better than I expected, so let’s see what I want to read next month. There are quite a few buddyreads planned, so let’s take a look at my February TBR!

Group Reads/Buddy Reads

Kingdom of the Cursed – Kerri Maniscalco

The Kingdom of the Cursed trilogy is a series I’ve seen get a lot of hype. I read Kingdom of the Wicked when it first released and I think the hype got to me. I’m currently reading it for a second time and I’m liking it better than the first time around. It’ll be interesting to see how this story continues.

Before I Let Go – Kennedy Ryan

Kennedy Ryan is another author I’ve been really wanting to give a try. From what I’ve heard she writes amazing, but emotional books. If I read the summary correctly we read about a couple that divorced, but aren’t sure if they’re ready to give each other up. It wouldn’t surprise me if I end up in tears, haha.

Godkiller – Hannah Kaner

Godkiller sounds like an intriguing fantasy adventure. Our main character kills gods, but then ends up meeting one she can’t beat. I wasn’t sure if this is a book for me, but a group of friends want to read it together and I’m going to give it a go. The cover is stunning!

These Violent Delights – Chloe Gong

A Romeo and Juliet retelling in Shanghai? I’ve always been intrigued by this synopsis, but still haven’t gotten around to reading it. I’m hoping to love it at much as I think I will and enough to read the sequel next month.

A Marvellous Light – Freya Marske

A secret magical society, a magic-infused murder mystery, and a queer romance? Sign me up! Another book I’ve been wanting to read since its release. With the same group I’m reading the previous two books with, I’m also reading A Marvellous Light with this month. If we all love it, I’ll also be reading the sequel with them.

The Serpent and the Wings of the Night – Carissa Broadbent

As I’m typing this, I’ve actually already started reading The Serpent and the Wings of the Night with Isabelle. It’s a big book and we’re about 10% in and I’m already loving it. I love books with competitions and this one starts off with a bang. The sequel releases in March, so we’ll be ready!

Cruel Illusions – Margie Fuston

All I needed to know about this book was that it’s described as Caraval meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer! It’s a dark young adult fantasy who deals with a secret magical society and a deadly competition. I’m intrigued!

From Blood and Ash – Jennifer L. Armentrout

From Blood and Ash is a book I loved and plan on rereading this month. I tried finally sitting down to continue the series late last year, but failed, haha. A few friends and I are going to give it a go and hopefully catch up with the series.

ARCs/Tours

Out of Character – Jenna Miller

I’ve already mentioned Out of Character on the blog a few times, but I’ll be reading this at the beginning of the month. Our main character is a part of a big fandom and has found people online who love it just as much as she does. This does complicate her real life though.

The Writing Retreat – Julia Bartz

I’ve been wanting to read more thrillers and The Writing Retreat sounds like one that will keep me on the edge of my seat! It’s set during the winter, so it’s the perfect time of year and has a group of authors. I love anything bookish.

Thank You For Listening – Julia Whelan

So I own this one physically and had an e-arc, so it’s time to get this one read. A successful romance audiobook narrator gets her own romance with another audiobook narrator. I’m ready to read this one!

Carrie Soto is Back – Taylor Jenkins Reid

I actually already read about 100 pages of this one and enjoyed what I read so far. Just like with Thank You For Listening, I have an e-arc and the physical book. So I will finish this one in February.

Backlist/Physical TBR

So I haven’t finished the three books I chose randomly last month, but I will choose another three. I’m determined to get these read. Even if it takes me a little longer.

Skyhunter – Marie Lu

Skyhunter was a case of I was loving what I was reading, but then got distracted by another book. I want to say I was about 100 pages in. I’ll have to start over again, because it’s been too long since I started it the first time.

The Girl in the Headlines – Hannah Jayne

Another thriller for me this month. The headlines say our main character killed her family, but she doesn’t remember anything. That’s going to be an interesting one.

Without Merit – Colleen Hoover

Without Merit is a Colleen Hoover book I’ve heard more negative things about than most, but I’m still curious. It’s finally time to see what’s it about!

As you can see my TBR is a lot smaller than in January. Besides my buddy reads I want to try and let myself mood read a bit more. There are also some romances releasing that I’m excited about. So maybe I’ll squeeze them in. What are you planning on reading next month? Or have you read any of these? Let me know what you thought! I’d love to hear from you.

  1. I’ve been on the fence about picking up Godkiller. The premise is intriguing (and that cover omg!!) so I’ll wait to hear your thoughts on it first 😊
