Book Tour| Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell – Tobias Madden

I’m starting off the new year with my stop on the tour for Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell. This tour is being hosted by TBR and Beyond Tours. I had the honor of sending Tobias Madden a few questions for an interview. If you want to know more about this book and the author, keep on reading to find out more!

Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell by Tobias Madden
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Romance
Publishing Date: January 3, 2023

There Are No Cheat Codes for Showmance

Seventeen-year-old gaymer Noah Mitchell only has one friend left: the wonderful, funny, strictly online-only MagePants69. After years playing RPGs together, they know everything about each other, except anything that would give away their real life identities. And Noah is certain that if they could just meet in person, they would be soulmates. Noah would do anything to make this happen—including finally leaving his gaming chair to join a community theater show that he’s only mostly sure MagePants69 is performing in. Noah has never done anything like theater—he can’t sing, he can’t dance, and he’s never willingly watched a musical—but he’ll have to go all in to have a chance at love.

With Noah’s mum performing in the lead role, and former friends waiting in the wings to sabotage his reputation, his plan to make MagePants69 fall in love with him might be a little more difficult than originally anticipated.

And the longer Noah waits to come clean, the more tangled his web of lies becomes. By opening night, he will have to decide if telling the truth is worth closing the curtain on his one shot at true love.

Author Interview

What inspired you to write Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell?

I started working on Noah’s story towards the end of 2020, and I just wanted to write about something that would bring me joy. The first things that came to mind were my two favourite things as a teenager—community theatre and computer games. Instead of choosing just one, I decided to combine them both into one story, and Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell was the result!

What has been the favorite part of your publishing journey so far?

Meeting teen readers is definitely my favourite part of being a YA author. I’ve been fortunate enough to do lots of high school visits and writers festivals in Australia, and I love getting the chance to talk to teens—particularly queer teens—about my books, and books in general. Their joy is so infectious, and they find such empowerment in the stories they read. It’s a great reminder of why I write for teens!

If you were a character in Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell, what kind of character would you be?

I’d definitely be one of the extroverted, over-the-top theatre nerds Noah meets when he joins the cast of a local production of Chicago. Not only did I spend the entirety of my teen years in dance studios and rehearsal rooms—I even did a production of Chicago when I was seventeen—I then went on to perform professionally in musicals for about ten years!

Describe Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell in five words or less.

A heart-warming, nerdy, theatrical rom-com.

What is your favorite quote from Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell?

I’ve written a whole other book since working on Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell, so I can’t actually think of a single quote right now! Is that terrible? I promise it’s a memorable book!

What do you hope readers take away from your story?

I hope readers will come away from the book reminded that everyone is worthy of love, regardless of who they are or what they look like or how they choose to live their lives.

Could you give us 5 random facts about Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell (think the story, writing, publishing, anything that comes to mind)?

It’s 91,000 words long.

It was almost called Break a Leg, Noah Mitchell.

It came out in Australia last September, with a completely different cover.

It’s my second published novel, but my third full-length manuscript.

It’s set in a country town called Ballarat, which is where I grew up, and where my first book, Anything But Fine, is also set!
