We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Favorite Books of 2022 but Candyce and I do our own post for that so it feels weird to basically do the same post here. I looked at next week’s topic though and I really want to do that one as well. So I’m a week early with my Most Anticipated Books Releasing in the First Half of 2023. This will be part 1 and then next week Candyce will do part 2. Let’s jump in!
The Stolen Heir – Holly Black
January 3rd
Does this one still count? It releases today! Until about a week ago I totally forgot we were getting this one haha. But since I loved the Folk of the Air series (do hate that series name though), I am definitely excited for this one. Can’t wait to be back in this world!
Spice Road – Maiya Ibrahim
January 24th
I’ve mentioned this one a lot lately haha, so this might be a little repetitive ;). Anyways, I love that this is set in an Arabian inspired land and that it has tea magic in it. I just can’t wait to read it!
Heartstopper vol. 5 – Alice Oseman
February 2nd?
I really hope this is releasing in February. There isn’t a cover available yet and I’ve heard nothing about it lately. Nevertheless, I’m assuming we will get this one somewhere in the first half of 2023. It’s been awhile since we got volume 4 and I just need this final instalment. Even though I can’t believe the journey will be over after this one.
Seven Faceless Saints – M.K. Lobb
February 7th
This is a dark fantasy and has a murder mystery, a ton of things I love! It’s also described as perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, so sounds like it is my kind of book. I hadn’t heard that much about it yet but the reviews are great so I have high hopes.
The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi – S.A. Chakraborty
March 2nd
I still have S.A. Chakraborty other series unread on my shelves, but I’m also still excited to read that one. At the same time, I can’t wait to dive into this start of a new trilogy. There is a lot going on in the synopsis, some things I’m excited for are the pirates, the fact that our main character is a mother and still tries to become a legend. Sign me up!
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers – Jesse Q Sutanto
March 14nd
I still want to read Jesse’s previous series but now I’ve also added her newest to the list haha. Honestly, I have to admit I added this one based on the title haha. I didn’t even read the synopsis. Since I have read the synopsis and it sounds wonderful. A Chinese mother of a certain age, a tea shop and the hunt for a killer.
Untethered Sky – Fonda Lee
April 11th
Another author is still want to read a previous series from. This is also a tordotcom novella and I tend to love those. I’m excited to see what Fonda Lee can do in a 160 pages. The early reviews are raving about the world she created and that is quite impressive in a novella.
The Isles of the Gods – Amie Kaufman
May 2nd
I wasn’t sure if I would include this one, I still have a couple of Amie’s books to read on my shelves and I’m not sure I have actually read something she wrote without a co-author. But the synopsis sounded really interesting and I’ll admit the mention of gangster dens drew me in completely.
Witch King – Martha Wells
May 30th
I love Martha Wells’ Murderbot series, which I have to continue soon, so I took a look at her upcoming release. The synopsis is a bit confusing but I’ve gathered that this is a character-driven story, the MC is a demon of the Underworld and the early reviews are very positive.
Never a Hero – Vanessa Len
June 8th
I loved Only a Monster last year, it was a really unexpected book. And I have been looking forward to the sequel ever since I finished book 1. Also, I can’t believe by the time this releases I have been waiting for a year and a half on Never a Hero! Hopefully it lives up to my expectations.

This post was a lot harder than I was expecting! Usually I have tons of anticipated releases. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve become more critical of the books I save or if we just have less exciting releases this year? If you have an opinion on this, I would love to hear it!
I’m looking forward to The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi and Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers too. Happy new year!

I’m looking forward to The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi too, I loved the Daevabad trilogy, so I’m excited to see what SA Chakraborty does outside of that world.
