It’s the first day of June and that means it’s time to talk about the books we’ve collected in the last month. May was a big release month, so did we get any of those new ones? What did we add to our shelves? Keep on reading for our May bookhaul.
Candyce
May was a good month of books for me. I definitely splurged a bit. A friend and I even went to visit a bookstore we both love, so you know I couldn’t leave empty handed. In May I added a total of 21 books to my shelves. At least I can say I’ve already read 5 and I’m workin on a 6th. Let’s see what they were!
Book Lovers – Emily Henry
I think a lot of us book lovers picked up this book when it released. Emily Henry is an author I love and I’m looking forward to reading about these two characters that work with books.
7th Circle, Anarchy, Club 22 & Timber – Tate James
After loving the Madison Kate series I knew I needed to continue in this world with the Hades series. As I’m typing this I’m currently reading the Club 22 and loving everything. These books are wild and twisted, but so addicting.
The Agathas – Kathleen Glasgow & Liz Lawson
A town filled with secrets, a character that disappeared for 5 days and then came back, and now another missing student. And apparently Agatha Christie’s work is going to help them along. This sounds like a perfect summer read.
Ivy – Willa Nash
From what I’ve heard Ivy has Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl vibes. It takes place at a prestigious university where secrets are currency. We know that’s going to get good.
Not the Witch You Wed – April Asher
I love romantic comedies and Not the Witch You Wed sounded like one I needed. I mean look at this pretty cover. This is one I actually read this one and it was a fast and fun read. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the next book releasing in this series.
Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets – Chelsea Ichaso
Even though I still haven’t gotten around to it, I do want to read more mysteries and thrillers. Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets is one that I bought for that exact reason. This book has an unreliable narrator and I love that!
The Lightning-Struck Heart – TJ Klune
The Lightning-Struck Heart is the first book in the Tales from Verania series and I don’t know how I missed it. The fifth book just released and I’ve heard amazing things about this fantasy series.
All My Rage – Sabaa Tahir
All My Rage was a group read in the TBR and Beyond group in May and I ordered it for that. Once I picked it up I couldn’t stop. This is not an easy read, but it’s beautiful as well. I really hope Sabaa Tahir writes more books like this.
Twisted Love – Ana Huang
Twisted Love is a series I’ve seen around for awhile and the first three books are already out. I believe the fourth one releases soon. This is a darker romance, but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things. And I loved this alternative cover.
The Fine Print & Terms and Conditions – Lauren Asher
The Fine Print was such a fun book, so when I saw this one I knew I needed it when I went to the bookstore. Then I saw Terms and Conditions. I have the e-book, but I love these editions, so I needed to add it to my shelf. Hopefully I love the second book as much as I did the first one. I also just realized I never took a picture of The Fine Print.
The Atlas Six – Olivie Blake
The Atlas Six was an indie book, but was picked up by a traditional publisher. There have been some mixed reviews, but it’s dark academia. Something I love. I may wait until this fall to read it.
My Dark Vanessa – Kate Elizabeth Russell
I know My Dark Vanessa won’t be an easy read at all, but I’ve seen it get some amazing reviews. Sometimes I like reading the hard-hitting stuff. When authors know how to really make you feel something I’m always amazed.
A Lesson in Vengeance – Victoria Lee
A boarding school, haunted dorms, and witches? Sounds like it’s right up my alley! This is another book I think I’ll be reading this fall. A perfect rainy day read.
This Poison Heart – Kalynn Bayron
Cinderella is Dead was a good book and I’ve been wanting This Poison Heart for awhile. The sequel is releasing soon, so this was the perfect time to pick this one up.
Felix Ever After – Kacen Callender
Felix Ever After is another book I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about an I really want to read. Felix is a transgender teen dealing with identity and falling in love for the first time. Sounds like a book right up my alley.
The Road Trip – Beth O’Leary
I’ve never read anything by Beth O’Leary, but I’ve definitely wanted to. The Road Trip sounds like it’s going to be a fun ride. I’ve heard other readers say this wasn’t their favorite book by this author, so I’ll definitely try another one if I don’t enjoy The Road Trip.
Anatomy: A Love Story – Dana Schwartz
If I’m honest this one was definitely a cover buy. I have heard amazing things about it though. I do love historical fiction books where the female lead won’t accept not doing something, because they’re not a man. They fight for what they want and I love that.
Isabelle
One more where I didn’t add anything haha. My head is so busy I don’t even have the brain capacity to order books with my gift cards. Soon though!!
So that’s our May bookhaul! Have you read any of the books we got this month? What did you add to your shelves? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.
I have Anatomy and Book Lovers that I definitely hope to read soon. Both sound amazing.
