Bookish Item | Sports Fiction I Want to Read

Recently I reread (and loved) the All For the Game series and it reminded me how much I love reading about sports in books. It doesn’t matter whether it’s real sports or an invented sport I just want it in there. So I decided to take a look at the sports books I want to read. Let’s jump in!

Beartown – Fredrik Backman

This is about a small Swedish town and how the ice hockey team brings the town together and also tears it apart. I think this will be a very emotional and interesting read and definitely something I’m going to enjoy. It has really high ratings so I have high expectations.

Don’t Know Tough – Eli Granor

This is a mystery thriller and combines it with a sports settings. It was also compared to Saturday Night Lights, a show I loved with all my heart. This could be a very dark read but I’m very excited to figure out what is going on exactly.

The Upside of Falling – Alex Light

On to a lighter read! This one has the fake dating trope and as you might know, I adore that trope so much. And having it with a jock is always better haha. Candyce read and enjoyed this one so I’m excited to read it. I think it will be a nice quick and fun read.

The Cheat Sheet – Sarah Adams

This has friends to lovers and fake dating and it sounds pretty cute. It also has ratings all over the place haha. I’ve seen a lot of 1 stars and DNF’s but also 4 and 5 star reviews talking about how CUTE this book is. Interested to see how I will feel!

The Bromance Book Club – Lyssa Kay Adams

I started reading this book and I need to get back into it! This is a very cute romance story and it also happens to have a MC who is a big sports guy. I really enjoyed that aspect and can’t wait to read more about it. There are multiple books in this series already and I want to read all of them.

The Deal – Elle Kennedy

To be honest, I could’ve picked any Elle Kennedy book for this haha. I feel like I want to read all of them! But I first have to try one and see if I actually enjoy them. So many of my friends have read these books though and they all absolutely love them to pieces so I have high hopes.

Throttled – Lauren Asher

This is the one I want to read the most I think! Although I’m also very scared I won’t love it haha. Formula 1 is one of my favorite sports so I’m very excited to see how it is portrayed in this story. The reviews are all over the place so we’ll see!

Carrie Soto is Back – Taylor Jenkins Reid

This one isn’t released yet but I had to add it! I loved the TJR books I read so far and this newest one sounds amazing. A tennis player coming out of retirement to protect her record, some steamy drama with a coach, I’m all here for it!

Have you read any of these sports books? Which one should I pick up first? And did I miss any good ones? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’ve heard so many things about Kennedy’s books too…and still haven’t gotten to one yet. So I feel that! Haha.
