Bookish Item | Series to Finish in 2022

One of my reading goals in 2022 is finishing 12 series. It has been one of my reading goals for the last couple of years and I failed it every single time…. To try and help myself a bit I picked 12 series I want to try and complete this year. for some I only have 1 more book to go so hopefully I can actually complete this one for once! Let’s take a look.

1.Three Dark Crowns – Kendare Blake
1 book to go

I’ve talked about wanting to read this one so often haha. Does anyone still believe me? I truly want to read it this year, I only have about half of the book to go. This series is one of my favorites and as I’ve said before, I’m really scared about how it will end.

2. Nevernight – Jay Kristoff
2 books to go

I loved Nevernight! And I planned on reading the rest of the series right away… I did read the first couple of chapters of Godsgrave and it was already very excited. While I have seen a couple of things about the last book, I can’t wait to experience it myself.

3. Caraval – Stephanie Garber
2 books to go

I wasn’t a huge fan of Caraval and it actually fell a bit short for me. But I love the covers for these books and almost everyone says that the other two books are better. So I have some decent hopes for me liking both of these. And I’ve also already bought the spin off haha.

4. Stalking Jack the Ripper – Kerri Maniscalco
2 books to go

Another series where I wasn’t a fan of the first one. The second one was supposed the be better, but I didn’t love it either. It was just oke for me. However, I loved the titles of the next two books and I decided to get them anyway. Hopefully I end up at least enjoying them, but I guess this is where my hesitation comes from.

5. Something Dark and Holy – Emily A. Duncan
1 book to go

I loved Wicked Saints and enjoyed Ruthless Gods. Of course I immediately preordered Blessed Monsters but I didn’t end up reading it yet. I love the cover and I have high hopes for this series finale!

6. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder – Holly Jackson
1 book to go

I planned on reading this as soon as I got it after adoring the first two books. Unfortunately I didn’t do that just yet but I hope to do so very soon. I will say I have seen some one star reviews for the book and I have no idea where it is going haha.

7. The Poppy War – R.F. Kuang
2 books to go

The Poppy War was such a brutal book but I loved it. It’s pretty big and the rest of the series is quite intimidating. But I want to pick the next two books up soon as I really need to know what happened with some of the characters.

8. Wayfarers – Becky Chambers
2 books to go

I loved The long way to a small angry planet but was a bit sad that we would be following different characters in the other books. Luckily I also loved the second book once I did pick it up haha. And now I have high hopes for the next two books! These are sci-fi but with a contemporary feel to it and I am all here for it.

9. Warcross – Marie Lu
1 book to go

I really enjoyed Warcross even though some things were predictable. The characters were interesting and I really liked the world. I did start the second book but didn’t get very far. However, I have a feeling I will read this so fast once I do pick it back up!

10. Red Queen – Victoria Aveyard
2 books to go

Red Queen as such a great read! I read it almost right after it came out, before the hype and before reading a lot of books like this. Unfortunately I was super disappointed by the second book and didn’t really feel like picking up the third one. I do own all of them and hope the rest of the series gets better again!

11. Daughter of the Pirate King – Tricia Levenseller
1 book to go

I really enjoyed Daughter of the Pirate King and I’m excited to see where the story goes in this sequel. While I didn’t completely love this, I do think its a fun series and I enjoyed the world! Hopefully the second book will be just as fun.

12. Izzy O’Neill – Laura Steven
1 book to go

The Exact Opposite of Okay is one of the best books I read in the last couple of years and I would highly recommend it to everyone. I recently read Laura Steven’s The Love Hypothesis and it was so good. It reminded me that I have to pick this one up very soon. As this it one of the only contemporary books on here, I might do so as soon as I’m in the mood for a book like this!

So those are the 12 series I hope to finish this year. I already own all of these books so it would work great for both my backlist goal (and with 2 eARC’s also for my Netgalley goal) and the series goal. It would be great if I actually managed it this year! Which series should I start with? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Wayfarers series is EVERYTHING. They’re all amazing. I think, after the obvious love for the first one that starts us into it all, the last one might be my favorite. I hope you get to finish them this year!
