Contemporary books are always something I can’t resist, so it didn’t take me long to say yes to the blog tour for House Swap when the publisher emailed me. So today is my review of the book and before that I’ll tell you about this amazing story! Keep on reading to find out more!
Twins Katy and Rachel don’t know much about each other’s lives anymore.
Rachel thinks that Katy is a high-flying event planner in London, while Katy thinks that Rachel lives in idyllic marital bliss in the countryside.
Each sister believes the other has created a perfect life – but the truth is that neither twin has the life she pretends she does.
And when these sisters unexpectedly swap houses for a week, they’re in for a big shock.
But it might just be the wake-up call they’ve both been waiting for. . .
Packed hilarity and heartbreak, this new novel from bestselling author Olivia Beirne follows two estranged sisters who learn more about each other from a house swap than they ever expected… Perfect for fans of Beth O’Leary and Marian Keyes.
Review
The grass is always greener on the other side is definitely a saying that will fit this book well. Once I picked up House Swap I just couldn’t put it down. This is definitely a book you pick up one morning when you’re free for the day and are done with reading before you know it. House Swap made me laugh, cry, close my eyes when things didn’t got quite to plan, and it left a smile on my face.
Twin sisters Rachel and Katy used to be as close as they could be, but their grandmother’s death and parents’ divorce pushed them apart. A couple years later and they’re more strangers that email each other than best friends. Both think the other has built themselves an amazing life, but things aren’t as glamorous as either believe! This is something they realize when they switch lives for a week.
I think it’s clear to anyone that this switch definitely doesn’t go smoothly. Both Rachel and Katy realize the other’s life is nothing like they think. In many ways all of their insecurities and miscommunication would’ve been solved if they had just sat down together and had a good talk, but that definitely wouldn’t have been as entertaining as this. Experiencing each other’s lives definitely brings them closer and realize they’re not so different as they think.
House Swap is filled with family, self growth, secrets, and so much more! Also, I have to say that I love there’s a tad of romance in this book, but that it doesn’t take over the story. Stories that focus on family tend to be my favorites. I could go on and on about this book, but I really just think you need to experience it yourself!
House Swap was my first book by Olivia Beirne, but it’s definitely not going to be my last! After loving House Swap as much as I did I need more! Even if you’re not a twin, would you ever switch lives with someone for a week? Let me know in the comments.
