TTT #210 | Memorable Things Characters Have Said

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Memorable Things Characters Have Said. And I love that! I love bookish quotes and most of them are things characters have said. So I’m just going to go with a bunch of my favourite quotes haha. Some of them are things characters thought instead of said but I’m very much okay with that. Let’s jump in!

1.Jesper/Kaz/Matthias | Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo

“Jesper knocked his head against the hull and cast his eyes heavenward. “Fine. But if Pekka Rollins kills us all, I’m going to get Wylan’s ghost to teach my ghost how to play the flute just so that I can annoy the hell out of your ghost.”
Brekker’s lips quirked. “I’ll just hire Matthias’ ghost to kick your ghost’s ass.”
“My ghost won’t associate with your ghost,” Matthias said primly, and then wondered if the sea air was rotting his brain.”

2. Nehemia | Throne of Glass – Sarah J. Maas

“You could rattle the stars,” she whispered. “You could do anything, if only you dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That’s what scares you most.”

3. Izil | Daughter of Smoke and Bone – Laini Taylor

“Have you ever asked yourself, do monsters make war, or does war make monsters?”

4. Emika Chan | Warcross | Marie Lu

“Every locked door has a key. Every problem has a solution.”

5. Jane&G | My Lady Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

“No horse jokes,” he said.
“My lord, I apologize for the horse joke. If you put down the book—unharmed!—I will give you a carrot.”
He brandished the book at her. “Was that a horse joke?”
“Was that a horse joke?”

6. Alex | Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston

“Straight people, he thinks, probably don’t spend this much time convincing themselves that they’re straight.”

7. Cath | Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell

“In new situations, all the trickiest rules are the ones nobody bothers to explain to you. (And the ones you can’t Google.)”

8. Kavinsky | The Dream Thieves – Maggie Stiefvater

“Reality’s what other people dream for you.”

9. Neil | The Raven King

“Neil thought about Renee’s bruised knuckles, Dan’s fierce spirit, and Allison holding her ground on the court a week after Seth’s death. He thought about his mother standing unflinching in the face of his father’s violent anger and her ruthlessly leaving bodies in their wake. He felt compelled to say, “Some of the strongest people I’ve known are women.”

10. Addie | The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

“…it is sad, of course, to forget.
But it is a lonely thing, to be forgotten.
To remember when no one else does.”
