As always I was looking around to find a book tag when I came across the Bookish Boxes & Buzzwords Tag. This tag was created by LizziefayeLovesBooks. It was a longer tag than I was expecting haha. I had to think quite hard but it was enjoyable, so let’s jump in!

YOUR GO-TO GENRE OR FAVORITE TYPE OF BOOK

My two favorite genres have always been fantasy and mystery and I don’t see that changing anytime soon haha. I love to lose myself in a whole other world or a compelling mystery.

RETELLINGS YOU ARE DRAWN TO

This used to be Beauty & the Beast! But I’m a bit over them to be honest. Right now I love retellings of anything I don’t know that well. It’s so much fun discovering a new story and dive deeper into that. Of course I still have some BatB retellings I still want to read but I’m very excited about retellings of other stories as well.

LIFESTYLES OR CAREERS OF THE BOOK CHARACTERS

Haha well, I guess I love reading about criminals and especially assassins. It’s so much fun reading about people you might really not like in real life but love in books. Some of my absolute favorite books (especially fantasy ones) have criminals as the protagonist. I love reading about characters who are part of a gang but I also love reading about assassins.

PLACES OR SETTINGS YOU ARE DRAWN TO

I don’t think this answer has changed over the years even once. It has and will always be boarding schools, especially magical ones. There is little better than a magical boarding school. I love the dynamic in those settings and I guess it’s also a bit wish fulfilment haha.

RELATIONSHIPS YOU ENJOY READING ABOUT

I love reading about friendships and I’m always on the lookout for more books that have a strong (female) friendship at the core of the story. It’s one of the reasons why I enjoy reading MG so much, a lot of times there is a friendship at the core. Just need some more YA and adult ones ;).

BUZZWORDS IN THE TITLE OF THE BOOK

This is a hard one! I don’t think I have buzzwords to be honest. But I do enjoy anything that has to do with wicked or villains or anything related. And also anything witch-y haha.

THINGS ON BOOK COVERS THAT DRAWN YOU IN

I love books with illustrations! Just simple but beautiful illustrations. I don’t like to much on the cover but give me some pastel colors and a good illustration and I’m in!

NONFICTION BUZZWORDS OR A NONFICTION YOU ARE DRAWN TO

I don’t read that many non-fiction books. But the ones I do pick up are almost all about introversion haha. It’s just interesting reading about something you recognise in yourself!

MEDICAL OR PHYSICAL CONDITIONS OF CHARACTERS

I don’t think I have a preference for any of this actually. If I think hard about it, I’m not even sure which medical or physical conditions I have read about. I do enjoy reading about characters with a mental illness or who are neurodivergent. Does that count?

TIME OF YEAR, OR TIME IN HISTORY OR FUTURE THAT YOU ARE DRAWN TO

Books about World War II were a go to for me. I used to read a lot of them! And I really love reading about that time period. But overall I like a lot of time period actually. I don’t have a time of year that’s a favorite, although I do love reading about boarding schools and they usually start in September haha.

I’m not really into horror, religious fiction or most romance novels. In general I’ll try almost anything and I have read some MG and YA horror and a couple of romance novels. But they’re not genres I pick up a lot.
