Bookish Item | More Series I Want to Finish in 2021

Last week Candyce shared 12 series she wants to finish in 2021. We both have finishing series as a goal for this year so I figured I would make a list as well. There are some series where I just have one book left and it would be so easy to finish them. Let’s jump in!

Three Dark Crowns – Kendare Blake
one book to go

I love this series so much and I don’t have any excuses for not finishing this one yet haha. After the release I did start the audiobook and I got almost half way through… But, I did pick this up again yesterday! So I hope to cross this series off my list very soon. And I hope it lives up to my expectations.

Warcross – Marie Lu
one book to go

This is another one I already started, I think Candyce and I were doing a buddyread. But I stopped pretty early one. Warcross was unexpected good so I do want to see where this one takes us. It’s also a great way to cross both a backlist book and a series of my list.

His Fair Assassin – Robin LaFevers
one book to go

I read the first two books years ago and I think that might hold me back. Chances are I forgot so many details about this series but I don’t feel like rereading the other books. I just have to pick it up and see how it goes haha.

Daughter of the Pirate King – Tricia Levenseller
one book to go

I really enjoyed the first book and I remember it being a fast read. This world was interesting and I was looking forward to the sequel. But I just never found the time to pick it up. Hopefully this post will be the push I need.

Caraval – Stephanie Garber
two books to go

Everyone was raving about Caraval but when Candyce and I finally picked it up we were both a bit disappointed. This did not help me to read the sequels. I actually bought the books because I loved the covers so much haha. Those editions with the quotes and illustrations on the naked hardback are just gorgeous. I did hear people liked the sequels better so I do want to give the series another try.

Nevernight – Jay Kristoff
two books to go

I loved Nevernight and I really planned on reading the sequels right away. And while I did start Godsgrave I didn’t finish it. I plan on reading it in the coming month though! There are currently 3 Jay Kristoff books on my TBR and I want to finish them all this year starting with Godsgrave and Darkdawn.

Stalking Jack the Ripper – Kerri Maniscalco
two books to go

This is another series with a slightly disappointing first book. I enjoyed the first two books but didn’t think they were great. However I love the sound of the third book and I also bought the fourth one because there is no way I can only read 3 out of 4 books in a series haha.

Red Queen – Victoria Aveyard
two books to go

I loved Red Queen so much and was then so disappointed in the sequel. My love for Red Queen wants me to still finish the series and I do own all the books. The reviews for book 3 and 4 seem to be quite mixed. Some like them better than the second book, others say they’re still not that good. I shall see!

An Ember in the Ashes – Sabaa Tahir
two books to go

It’s been quite awhile since I read and loved the first two books. I actually read them in Dutch and I also have book 3 in Dutch. There hasn’t been any news about the last book I believe so I’ll have to wait to see if I can get a complete set or if I have to get the last one in English.

Series that wrap up in 2021

Something Dark and Holy – Emily A. Duncan
one book to go

I adore this series and there is no way I won’t be reading the last book this year. Although I’ve said that about many series on this list haha. The second book made sure I want to read this one really bad!

Simon Snow – Rainbow Rowell
one book to go

While it had been years since I read Carry On I was really excited to read Wayward Son. And I’m equally excited for Any Way the Wind Blows. The sequel had a very different vibe from the first book and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo
one book to go

I loved King of Scars and I hated that I had to wait so long haha. This universe is one of my favorites ever and this duology follows some of my favorite characters within that world. And after that ending…. Can’t wait to see what Leigh came up with next!

These are 12 series I plan on finishing this year. Can’t wait to see how many I actually manage to read. Have you read any of these series? Which one should I read first?
