Can you believe October is over already?! This month flew by and we’re getting closer and closer to the end of the year. Did we add any new books this Halloween month? Or did we control ourselves haha? Let’s take a look at our October bookhaul!
Candyce
There were a few books I couldn’t resist this month, I got my September Illumicrate box and I received a book to read and review. If I add that up, I ended up adding 6 books to my shelves. This year I also participated in a Halloween swap (if you’ve been following our blog, I did last year as well). I don’t get to open that box until the 31st and I’m writing this post in advance, so those books will be in our November bookhaul
The Tigers in the Tower – Julie Golding
In November I’m participating in the book tour for The Tigers in the Tower. The publisher was sending a small amount of review copies worldwide and I was lucky enough to get one. I really hope I enjoy this one.
A Deadly Education – Naomi Novik
A Deadly Education was in September’s Illumicrate and it’s stunning! I know a lot of people enjoyed this one and I’ve heard of some problematic content, but I am curious about it. Books that take place at schools or academies are ones I love.
Cemetery Boys – Aiden Thomas
I’ve seen this book everywhere and early readers were really excited about Cemetery Boys. Illumicrate announced their debut box for this during the summer and I just had to get my hands on it. The delivery got a little delayed, but I finally got my hands on this pretty book. I love the bookmark and pin included as well.
Skyhunter – Marie Lu
I haven’t read much yet by Marie Lu except for the Wildcard duology and I really enjoyed that. A couple of my friends read Skyhunter and they really enjoyed it. Also, this cover is stunning and the the edges of this book look really cool.
Spoiler Alert – Olivia Dade
You’ve probably seen this book on the blog before and I actually wanted to read Spoiler Alert in October. My reading didn’t go as planned, but I’m happy to add this book to my collection. I love the US cover, but the UK cover is cute as well.
The Roommate – Rosie Danan
I’ve seen The Roommate everywhere. Readers have been talking about it since before it released. The cover looks pretty innocent, but from what I’ve heard it’s not as innocent as it seems, haha. A lot of readers I know gave The Roommate 5 stars, so I’m excited to give it a go!
Isabelle
I actually did get some new books this month! The last couple of months I’ve been pretty good at not buying books and saving a bit of my money. However, this month while I was writing some blog posts, I just had to order two books! So let’s take a look.
Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow – Jessica Townsend
I love the first two books in the Nevermoor series, they are amazing, fantastical MG books and I highly recommend them to everyone. Hollowpox had been delayed a couple of times and I somewhat forgot it was releasing this month. After writing a post about the Nevermoor books I immediately looked for Hollowpox and was pleased to see I was able to order a copy. And isn’t it gorgeous?! I especially adore that naked hardback, I’m so happy I started collecting these editions.
Lair of Dreams – Libba Bray
Candyce and I did a buddyread of The Diviners this year (finally). We absolutely loved it and planned on continuing with the series right away… After failing in that regard, I did want to get the next book so I could start reading it soon. There are no matching sets for the whole series but this cover does match my first book in the series. I’m not sure which editions I’ll get for the third and fourth book yet.
Have you read any of the books we got this month? And did you get any new books? Tell us all about it in the comments! We love to hear from you.
I want to read A Deadly Education soon. I got a copy from Book of the Month. I also really want to read Cemetery Boys.
I finally read Nevermoor this summer, so I need the next two books asap!!!
I loved The Diviners – and Lair of Dreams. I have the third book but need to make time for it. They’re so good, but long!
