It’s been quite awhile since we’ve had an unboxing on the blog. I stopped buying book boxes for awhile. That is until Illumicrate started having some really interesting themes and very pretty books. Today I’ll be doing an unboxing for the July 2020 box We are the resistance. There was a delay with some items, so this box only arrived last Saturday.
I think most people have received their boxes by now, but if not be aware of spoilers if you continue reading this post. Let’s take a look what was in this box!
The pictures aren’t exactly as I want them, but they’re good enough for now, haha.
As usual there’s a spoiler card on top of the box. I love looking at it afterwards to see who designed the items. Also, I don’t always know the fandoms, so it’s an easy way to find out!
Celestial Observations Ceramic Book Pot
Designed by: Chatty Nora (@chattynora)
I’ve had one of these in a previous boxes and they’re really stunning. I still have to figure out what I’m going to use them for, but they’re the perfect size to fit on my bookcases.
Barrons Books & Bobbles Keyring
Artwork by: Felfira Moon Designs (@felfiramoondesigns)
This keyring is adorable. I already have so many on my keys now, but may have to use this for my locker key at work. I love the design on this one!
The Bone Season Notebook
Artwork by: Carly A-F (@carlydraws.illustration)
I always say you can never have enough notebooks! This one is pretty sturdy and I like the artwork on the cover. I’ve read the first book and need to continue with the rest. The fourth book is releasing next year, so I have a little time to catch up.
Rebel Scum Sunglasses
Designed by: Hey Atlas Creative (@heyatlascreative)
Sunglasses are something that I’m really picky about, so it’s an item I don’t care to receive in boxes like this. So unfortunately, this was my least favorite item in the box.
Ember in the Ashes Character Card Set
Artwork by: Michela Cacciatore (@michelacacciatore)
Character card sets are something that I like looking at. Even though I often picture a character differently, it’s still interesting to see how someone else sees them. The artwork on these cards is really good. I’ve read the first two books in this series, but haven’t gotten around to reading the third one yet!
Monthly Collectors Pin
Designed by: Fable & Black (@fableandblack)
I was so excited when they announced that starting in June there would be an exclusive pin to match the book in every box. I’m a big fan of pins and can’t wait to display this on the side of my bookcase along with the others I own!
Seven Devils – Laura Lam & Elizabeth May
Special editions of books are something I love adding to my shelves and I was so happy to see what Illumicrate did with this book. I already loved the original cover, but this one is just stunning. A few readers I know have already read Seven Devils and loved it, so I’m really excited to give it a go! I thought it was awesome that we got a signed bookplate as well!
All in all, I’m really pleased with this July box. I’m excited, because today I’ll also be receiving the box for the A Darker Shade of Magic anniversary. I can’t wait to see what is in this box. Keep an eye out for that unboxing next week. What do you think? Is Seven Devils a book you’d read? Let me know in the comments!
I have never bought a book subscription box before but posts like this make me really want too because everything you got is SO beautiful!
I love that keychain! I have been a subscriber of both Owlcrate and Whimsify both great boxes but I have stopped and buy a few here and there when I feel like the theme is for me. There is kind of an subscription box in Sweden that have books and 3-5 bookish items connecting to the book thats in the box but you can by separate boxes only and not subscribe AND you get to know what book is in the box in case you already own the English version of the book and don’t want duplicates. I love that last time it was Beach Read and the stuff onside was summer/beachread teamed 🙂
