We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books I Enjoyed but Rarely Talk About. And I really like this topic! There are quite some books we talk about alll the time and I’m happy to get the opportunity to pick some books that usually slip my mind. So let’s dive in!
I was part of the blog tour voor Last Girl Lied to. And while it isn’t my favorite YA mystery thriller I did really enjoy it. I’m always on the look out for a new and interesting YA mystery thriller and I’m excited for Laurie’s newest release.
I had the opportunity to read the eARC for this one through Netgalley. And I was so happy I read it! This was an wonderful contemporary story and I highly enjoyed it. It was a fast and pretty short story but I really liked the blogging part and I liked the characters.
This was a suspenseful sci-fi mystery thriller! I like when there is a mix between genre’s and this one was down very well. The ending was amazing and I can’t wait to finally read the sequel because oh my, I need to know what happened.
I’ve read the first two books in the Brooklyn Brujas trilogy and I’m super excited for the final book. While I think this book did get some attention, I feel like there was never any hype surrounding it. And in my opinion this series really deserves some love.
5. The Final Six – Alexandra Monir
This was a fun apocalyptic kind of sci-fi read. It was great that the focus wasn’t on Northern America and we got to see a lot more from the world. One of the main characters was Italian and I appreciated that a lot. The sequel is out and I should pick it up soon, as this was another one with a intriguing ending.
6. Renegades – Marissa Meyer
This series has gotten more love than the previous books on this list. Book 3 in the series is already out, but I still have read only the first book. I started this series after meeting Marissa Meyer, who is super sweet by the way, and I will repeat myself but wow what an ending. So many books, so little time but I should make some time for this series.
7. The Last Namsara – Kristen Ciccerelli
Candyce and I have met Kristen a couple of years ago and she was such a sweet human being. At the time I hadn’t read her book yet but I’m glad I did so afterwards. This is a super cool dragon book and I own the rest of the trilogy. The only thing that bugs me is that every book has a different main character. But I’ll just have to try it out first.
8. Fireworks – Katie Cotugno
Every now and then I do like to pick up a contemporary book. And Katie Cotugno was an author I really wanted to try. This book has a bit of a historical setting, I believe it’s set in the 90’s. It was very enjoyable and I liked the ambition of the girls.
9. Assassin’s Heart – Sarah Ahiers
This is a pretty underrated fantasy duology. I really liked the gangster family inspired world and I enjoyed the story a lot. While the sequel does sound like a rehash of the first book, I do own it and plan on reading it at some point. I especially like the world and wouldn’t mind spending some more time in it.
10. Grant County & Will Trent series – Karin Slaughter
Karin Slaughter was one of my most read and most owned authors. I just to read a lot of adult mystery thrillers and in my opinion Karin Slaughter is the best. She wrote some amazing books and the suspense always kills me. I’m ashamed to admit I still have a couple of unread Karin Slaughters but I hope to get to them soon.
Have you read any of these books? And what are some book you never talk about even though you liked them? Come talk to me in the comments!
