Tag | The Cake Book Tag

When I was looking for a tag, this one felt perfect. Today is Isabelle’s birthday and tomorrow is mine, so The Cake Book Tag couldn’t have come at a better moment. I couldn’t seem to find the original tag, but I stumbled upon this on Paperfury’s blog. I’m a fan of cake, so let’s check this tag out!

FLOUR
A BOOK THAT WAS A LITTLE SLOW TO START OFF BUT REALLY PICKED UP AS IT WENT ALONG

City of Brass felt a bit slow to me at the beginning! I understand it though, because this world is definitely a complex one! As we went along things got really interesting and I got very invested in the characters. I’ve already read the sequel and am looking forward to The Empire of Gold later this year.

BUTTER
A BOOK THAT HAD A RICH, GREAT PLOT

I’ve read a lot of books with a rich plot and that makes reading so much fun! The first book that comes to mind at the moment is The Final Empire. This is the first book in the Mistborn trilogy and it was so good. The world, magic, characters and plot were all so amazing!!

EGGS
A BOOK YOU THOUGHT WAS GOING TO BE BAD BUT ACTUALLY TURNED OUT QUITE ENJOYABLE

A lot of you may think my answer is weird, but I really though The Cruel Prince was going to be bad. I remember this book being so hyped around its release and that normally doesn’t work out well for me. I end up going into a book with so many expectations that I become disappointed. The Cruel Prince was a very pleasant surprise.

SUGAR

A SUGARY, SWEET BOOK

As a contemporary lover, I read a lot of sugary and sweet books, haha. Heartstopper Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 were the most recent reads that left a smile on my face. Yes, they definitely deal with some more difficult subjects while these characters find their ways, but I love the main characters together. I’ll be reading Vol. 3 very soon.

ICING
A BOOK THAT COVERED EVERY SINGLE ELEMENT THAT YOU ENJOY ABOUT A BOOK (FUNNY MOMENTS, ACTION MOMENTS, SAD MOMENTS, ETC.)

If I choose a book from this year, I just have to choose Warrior Blue. If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I totally would. The author makes you love these characters and everything balances itself out! Warrior Blue made me laugh, cry, angry and everything all mixed into one.

SPRINKLES
A BOOK SERIES THAT YOU CAN KIND OF TURN BACK TO FOR A LITTLE PICK ME UP WHEN YOU’RE FEELING DOWN

Okay, if I go for my answer for everything, I’d say Harry Potter. That’s too easy though and I give that answer way too often, haha. Another book I’ll go to is Fangirl. I’ve read it multiple times and still love it every single time. It’s fun seeing a main character understand your love for fandoms and everything about this book is just right. I really need to do a re-read soon!

THE CHERRY ON TOP
YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK THIS YEAR SO FAR

I mentioned one of my favorites when talking about icing, but Warrior Blue could definitely also be my favorite book so far. We’re only at the beginning of March and I’ve been lucky and have read some amazing books. Besides Warrior Blue, Fighting Words is another favorite of mine. Taylor Danae Colbert has yet to disappoint! I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

So that’s the Cake Book Tag! I actually enjoyed this one. I’m curious though, what’s your cherry on top this year? I know we’re only a couple months in to the year, but what’s your favorite so far? Also, if you think this tag is fun, you’re tagged!

  1. What a great tag! I’m also excited for The Empire of Gold, and my cherry on top [so far] is the short story collection What It Means When A Man Falls From The Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah. 😀

  2. I’ve never reread Fangirl but I should… I love the world she presented with Cath and Levi and it all just worked haha! City of Brass just looks really good and deep too.
