We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas launches her brand-new CRESCENT CITY series with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.
With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom—and the power of love.

I love Sarah J Maas’ Throne of Glass series and quite enjoyed the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. So of course I’m beyond excited for her newest book. This is the start of a new fantasy series and this time around it’s going to be a New Adult one, something I think is a good choice. Her Throne of Glass series started off as a YA series but moved closer and closer to New Adult and I think that’s probably were this one starts off.
I preordered a Waterstones special edition which will have red sprayed edges. Can’t wait for that to arrive! I have really high hopes for this series haha. Throne of Glass is one my favorites ever so my expectations are probably unrealistically high. The synopsis doesn’t really give me a feel for the story yet and I don’t want to think about it too much. I like that it takes place in more of a contemporary world and other than that I’d like to go in as blind as possible.
Somehow this is released the same day as one of the other biggest releases of the year: Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. I definitely want to read both of them and I can’t decide which one I’ll read first haha. Are you excited for this release? Come talk to me in the comments!
I cannot wait for this one!
So excited for it!!
I’m so torn about this book! I want to read it, but I’ve also kinda lost interest in both series by Sarah J Maas so I’m nervous. I may give it a shot and see what I think. We’ll see!
I can imagine being torn! It’s also a pretty big one. Maybe wait for some reviews and see if you can gather a bit more info?
I haven’t read any Sarah J Maas books but have heard so many great things about them. They are a little intimidating though because they are all gigantic books 😛
I’m dying for this one. It’s been such a long time since a Maas craze – I feel like it’s died down – guess it’s time to get another round lol
Haha yes absolutely! Hopefully this one will create that much needed Maas craze 😉
