We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
I’m still recovering from my surgery so physical therapy and dong my exercises take up most of my time. But I also did some fun things these last two weeks! I went to a concert, it’s called De Vrienden van Amstel Live. It translates to Friends of Amstel Live, with Amstel being a beer brand. There were about 17 Dutch artists performing, most of them performing songs in duo’s or trio’s or even with 6 artists at the same time. You could see the joy on the podium and it was simply an amazing night. I loved it and had a ton of fun!
Last week I got confirmation that I will be starting the course to become a teacher in February. I’m super excited for this and my mom and I went to the zoo to celebrate. We both have a zoo membership and while it was cold it was also sunny, making it a perfect zoo day. There weren’t that many people but the animals were pretty active and we had a ton of fun. The male elephant was walking with the rest of the group of elephants, something we never see. And he was fighting a bit with his young son. It was super interesting to see them interact in this way! The giraffes were running around and at one point got so close I was almost able to touch one.
Two days ago I had a housewarming party at the other side of the Netherlands. A friend and I went there together and we decided to get dinner on the way. We like to be a little adventurous from time to time so we decided to just take an exit at the highway about 2/3 off the way there. I did a quick google search for a local dinner and we just went there! It was so funny to just step into this local place, it was super small and we felt like everyone knew we weren’t from there from the moment we set foot in the place. But we had a lovely meal and it was just a fun little adventure before the party!
Do you remember me saying I wasn’t going to get new eARC’s for awhile? Yeah I didn’t wait long before I went right ahead and got some more… There was just no way I could pass up the opportunity to read both these books. I really enjoyed the Zoraida Cordova books I read before and the synopsis for Incendiary sounds great. And Laura Steven wrote one of my favorite YA contemporary stories ever so. The synopsis for her new book sounds hilarious so I can’t wait to read it!
I haven’t been reading that much the last weeks. It’s been awhile, but I’m still reading Mistborn. I also started reading Come Tumbling Down. Just so I would actually finish some books I read Saga vol 6 & 7 and I plan on picking up 8 & 9 soon! I also plan on reading Vengeful next week.
We got quite some pieces of bookish news! A lot of new book coming our way and they all sound wonderful <3
And another super interesting piece of kinda bookish news, we got a full trailer for P.S. I Still Love You! I’m so super excited for this movie, it looks amazing and I hope it will be as good as the first one <3
I preordered some special and signed edition books on the Waterstones website. Since we’ll be sharing our bookhaul this week I won’t show you the pictures just yet. I already received the first two books and they’re beautiful. There is one other book coming, but it’s a preorder for March so it will be a while before I get that one. Other than that little shopping spree I’ve been a good girl!
I haven’t been reading much, but I have been watching a ton of shows! The weekend before last the second season of Sex Education was released and last weekend the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 3 released. So of course I have watched all of the episodes of both shows! I also continued with my Gilmore Girls rewatch, I’m currently on the last season so I’m expecting to be done with it quite soon.
I have been listening to Halsey’s new album this week. Maniac was released on January 17th and it has some great songs on it! I will be listening to it a lot more in the coming weeks. For now I don’t really have a favorite song yet although I HATE EVERYBODY definitely has the best title 😉
