We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is a cover freebie. I’m never good at the freebie topics, but this week I decided to look at the books I decided to get for the covers. So let’s take a look at ten of my cover buys!
The Deathless Girls – Kiran Millwood Hargrave This book wasn’t on my radar at all until two friends bought this book. The paperback is gorgeous, but the hardcover even more stunning! Before I read the blurb I ended up picking this up at the bookstore in December. Hopefully the story is just as good!
Little White Lies – Jennifer Lynn Barnes I’ve read a few books by this author and love her work. When I saw this cover I knew I needed it. The spine is also really pretty, it’s bright pink. A couple of months ago, I ended up picking up and really loved the story. Unfortunately this duology got a cover change and isn’t as pretty in my opinion.
Wilder Girls – Rory Power Horror isn’t my genre at all, but this cover kept calling to me. Wilder Girls was getting a lot of hype and I just couldn’t resist the cover! I’m happy I picked this one up though. It was really interesting and definitely has me wanting to read more horror.
Gideon the Ninth – Tamsyn Muir In all honesty, this book was on my TBR just because of the cover. The only thing I knew was it had something to do with necromancers. Unfortunately, this cover buy didn’t work in my favor. Gideon the Ninth just wasn’t the book for me.
Spellslinger – Sebastien de Castell Quite a few people I know have really enjoyed reading this series. The only thing I really know about it is that there’s a cat squirrel? Even though I haven’t read the first book, I only need the sixth book to complete my collection. I got my hands on the paperbacks with pretty sprayed edges. I can’t resist those!
This Mortal Coil – Emily Suvada This was definitely a cover buy. I only know it has something to do with a virus. The cover is stunning though and no picture really does it justice. There have been some mixed reviews about this one, so hopefully I end up enjoying the story as much as the cover!
The Binding – Bridget Collins I own a lot of pretty books, but I have to say this is on the top of my list when it comes to pretty books. Not only is the cover stunning, under the dust jacket and the endpages are just as pretty. I have heard amazing things about The Binding, so I’m really excited!
That Inevitable Victorian Thing – E.K. Johnston If you’ve been following the blog, you know that I have quite a few books that have been on my shelf for a very long time. That Inevitable Thing is one of them and has been on my shelf for over two years. I still can’t tell you what it’s about, but the cover is stunning!
Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor Strange the Dreamer is a cover and author buy for me. After reading the first two books of the Daughter or Smoke and Bone trilogy, I’ve really come to love this author’s writing style. Add this gorgeous cover and blue sprayed edges and I was sold! This is yet again another story I’ve heard mixed reviews about, but at least my shelf will still look pretty if I don’t like it, haha.
Tilly and the Bookwanderers – Anna James I’ve really started to enjoy middle grade books. Not only because the stories are amazing, but the covers and illustrations inside the books are amazing. Tilly and the Bookwanderers is a cover buy and a story buy. I knew what it was about when I picked it up, but this is one I just couldn’t resist.
Even though I do know these authors or a bit about the stories, the covers really were what convinced me to pick these books up. What was your latest cover buy? Also, if you’re participating today, feel free to leave your link behind in the comments!
I love that cover of The deathless Girls! And Wilder Girls is a favorite of mine as well. That one’s awesome.
Strange the Dreamer has a lovely cover.
Great list! Yes, Wilder Girls has an absolutely gorgeous cover – definitely my favourite cover of 2019 releases. The Binding is beautiful, too – I need to cross that one off my TBR!
I definitely hope we both love it!
I love the cover for Wilder Girls.

So much cover goodness. I really like The Deathless Girls cover. It’s so pretty. The Binding I go just for that cover. No clue what it’s about lol
That’s how it started with me. I saw the cover, bought it and then decided to read what it was about, haha.
I agree on most of these covers! I loved Wilder Girls cover but I hated the book! I didn’t feel like it was horror at all and it was all just kind of meh, which is so disappointing because LOOK at that cover!
So disappointed also to hear about the cover change for Little White Lies because again, what a gorgeous cover.

Sorry to hear you were so disappointed!
And yeah, I wasn’t happy with that cover change at all!
That Inevitable Victorian Thing’s cover is gorgeous! I bought Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard because I fell in love with the cover! Covers really can draw you in.
