TTT #100 | Character Traits I Love

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Character Traits I Love. It’s hard to think of specific traits, but I’ll try to choose ten based on some of the characters I love!

In the end I could only think of six character traits, so I’ll talk about more than one book per trait. Let’s take a look!

Fangirl I have to start off with Cath from Fangirl of course. She’s a character that made my bookish heart really happy! Another character that really fits this character trait is Liv from All the Feels. This book is one I could really connect with. I love seeing the character embrace the fandom they love. Being a fangirl is such a fun part of my life and I love characters that feel the same way!

Sarcastic Magnus is a warlock and has lived quite the life. I love how sarcastic he can be and in every Shadowhunter book he’s in, I’ve definitely laughed a few times because of him. He’s a character I’ve really grown to love! Another sarcastic character I love is Daemon from the LUX series. Sometimes I would want to smack him for his sarcasm, but it also made the story so much fun! I grew up in a sarcastic family, so it’s great seeing characters the same way.

Quirky I’ve read books with many quirky characters, but there are two new ones I need to mention today. In Under the Bridge, we meet Ian and Valentina. They’re both quirky, but they just fit. No one is normal and they embrace that. Normal is boring and they definitely show us that!

Strong One character that is beyond strong, is Ella from The Last Letter. She goes through so much and this book really broke my heart. In the end Ella keeps going and nothing can stop her. Another character that fights for what she believes in is Celaena. Her life is anything but easy. She promises to fight back and that she does!

Romantic I’ve read a lot of romance books, so it’s hard to talk about just two books, haha. In Truth, Reid doesn’t seem like the romantic type, but the grand gesture at the end of the book definitely made me swoon. I love when the romantic gestures aren’t store bought, but really come from the heart. Love Songs & Other Lies is another book with an amazing romantic gesture. Cam definitely knows how to pull on the heart strings. I can’t say what the gestures are without spoiling the story, but definitely read these!

Stubborn As a very stubborn person, I also like reading about stubborn characters, haha. One of my favorite stubborn characters is Hermione. She annoyed me at times, but I can still totally relate with her character, haha. Then again, her stubborness saves them many times, so it can pay off to be that way!

So these are a few of my favorite character traits! What are your favorites? Feel free to leave your link in the comments.

  1. I thought Cath was really well done and she’s probably one of my favorite recent YA characters. Her story just seemed so genuine. and her relationships with her sister and Reagan- both a lot more outgoing than her- felt pretty real.

  2. I love that you included specific characters for this. I keep hearing about Bane’s character and everyone seems to love him but I just don’t know if the whole Shadowhunters series will be my jam. I do love a good sarcastic character though! Great list 🙂

  3. My husband is a Taurus and one of the most stubborn people on the planet. LOL So, that trait tends to annoy me, but where Hermoine is concerned, she’s usually right!

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
