We try to be a bit more critical and only show the books we’re truly interested in in these Wishlist Wednesday’s. However, this fall season in blessing us with allll the releases we NEED RIGHT NOW. So you better be prepared and have your wallet ready ;). Because here come the anticipated September releases, and there are a lot! Let’s dive in.
Five Dark Fates – Kendare Blake (September 3rd)
We both can’t believe this series is coming to an end! It’s been a roller coaster ride of emotions and while we’re sad it’s ending, we want to know whow everything will come together in the end.
Darkdawn – Jay Kristoff (September 3rd)
It’s almost time! We both jumped on the Nevernight train quite late haha, like two months ago…. But we’ve become instant fans and we’re both happy we didn’t have to wait ages for Darkdawn! Illumicrate did a special box we couldn’t resist so we’re both getting that one.
Tunnel of Bones – Victoria Schwab (September 3rd)
City of Ghosts was such a good book and I loved Cassidy. Books like these make me love middle grade books even more and I’m excited to see what happens in Tunnel of Bones.
Loki: Where Mischief Lies – Mackenzi Lee (September 3rd)
I mean, it’s about Loki, do we need to know more? Because I sure didn’t even read the synopsis haha. I’m just a big Loki fan and I’m sure this will be fun!
Serpent & Dove – Shelby Mahurin (September 3rd)
Another book surrounding witches. I’m loving this! When a witch and a man who thinks witches should be hunted are stuck together, I’m sure things will get really interesting.
American Royals – Katherine McGee (September 3rd)
I was actually lucky enough to get an ARC of this one (but haven’t found the time to read it yet). I’m a big fan of reading books with royal families and I think this one will be interesting. What if America had a royal family? Things would definitely look a lot different.
Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass – Mariko Tamaki (September 3rd)
I came across a bunch of new DC comics and this one about Harley Quinn was one of them. Harley is such an interesting character and I would love to know more about her.
Well Met – Jen DeLuca (September 3rd)
If I hear enemies to lovers and romantic comedies, I know I will want that book. Well Met sounds like a book I will love. The people I’ve seen talking about this book after reading an ARC have been really positive, so I’m definitely curious.
Rated – Melissa Grey (September 3rd)
I hardly read any dystopian books anymore but I really liked the sound of this one! Everyone is rated daily and your rating is available for everyone to see. The higher your rating the more valued you are. Super interesting concept and I can’t wait to read it.
The Okay Witch – Emma Steinkellner (September 3rd)
This is a middle grade graphic novel about a girl that finds out she’s actually a witch. I think this will be a super cute and lighthearted story. Family seems to be an important theme here and that’s always lovely.
There Will Come a Darkness – Katy Rose Pool (September 3rd)
This is a dark fantasy and has to do with prophecies. Remember my T10T? You know I’ll want to read it. And I think it also might have a bunch of misfits so the ingredients for me to love it are all here!
The Lady Rogue – Jenn Bennett (September 3rd)
The Lady Rogue is described as The Last Magician meets A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. Even though I haven’t read either, I really want to read this one. Our main character must hunt down Vlad the Impaler to save her father. That has to be one amazing adventure!
The Girl the Sea Gave Back – Adrienne Young (September 3rd)
I have to admit I still haven’t read Sky in the Deep…. But I do want to! And this is Adrienne’s new book, a highly anticipated release for the fans of SitD. Hope these will live up to the hype.
A Treason of Thorns – Laura E. Weymouth (September 10th)
I read The Light Between Worlds yesterday and that was a really interesting read. A Treason of Thorns sounds like an amazing book and just look at that cover!! I’m participating in the blog tour, so make sure to keep an eye out on the blog next month.
Gideon the Ninth – Tamsyn Muir (September 10th)
This one sounds so so cool! And it’s the reason we both got a certain subscription box! That box was delivered yesterday so we actually already have this book! Can’t wait to start reading this one.
Stargazing – Jen Wang (September 10th)
Another MG graphic novel! This one has asian rep, looks super cute once again and the early reviews are very positive. I also love the cover for this one!
Kingdom of Souls – Rena Barron (September 10th)
I have a feeling this is going to be an amazing story. When the main character can’t call to her powers, she takes a big risk to be able to call on them. There is definitely a lot going on in this world. The publisher granted my wish on Netgalley, so I need to read this one soon.
Capturing the Devil – Kerri Maniscalco (September 10th)
I can’t believe this is the final book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. Another serial killer and the case needs to be solved. I’m sure this will be another interesting read and I have it preordered!
A Match Made in Mehendi – Nandini Bajpai (September 10th)
I’m not a big contemporary reader but this just sounds like a lot of fun haha! That title captured by interest right away. I think this will just be a cute and light hearted contemporary and I’m all for it.
The Ten Thousand Doors of January – Alix E. Harrow (September 10th)
Finding a mysterious book in the treasures of a mansion sounds really interesting. I’m curious to see where all these doors will take us. Again, I was lucky to get an ARC on Netgalley, but really need to read it this month.
Rebel Girls – Elizabeth Keenan (September 10th)
I really like that this is set in 1992! That’s not a time you see in books often so that might be fun. It also looks at different points of view on the abortion debate and I think that will be very interesting.
The Magnolia Sword: A Ballad of Mulan – Sherry Thomas (September 10th)
YAY, a Mulan book! This is a Mulan retelling and I have to say, the synopsis sounds pretty much like the Disney movie so I’m excited to see what will be different. Definitely interested in this one!
Don’t Say a Word – Amber Lynn Natusch (September 17th)
Both of us were so excited for this book! Dare You to Lie was a great start to the series, so our Veronica Mars and Riverdale loving hearts needed more. Don’t Say a Word did not disappoint. Our review for this book is already online and you can read it here!
The Babysitters Coven – Kate Williams (September 17th)
When I read Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I was sold. Add a really amazing cover and I was already waiting to read it. Luckily, I got a spot on the blog tour and will actually be starting my ARC this week. Keep an eye on the blog next month for my review.
Chilling Effect – Valerie Valdes (September 17th)
This space opera sounds hilarious! It has kidnappings, , a found family (!) a fish-faced emperor (!!), and psychic cats (!!!). Count me in!!! Also, that cover looks super cool.
The Deathless Girls – Kiran Millwood Hargrave (September 19th)
Another stunning cover! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a new book that includes vampires and this one really sounds dark. The Deathless Girls is an imagined untold story about Dracula, so yet again, another perfect Halloween read.
Wayward Son – Rainbow Rowell (September 24th)
After loving Fangirl and Carry On, neither of us ever expected to get another book in this world. Rainbow Rowell surprised us and we can’t wait to read more about Simon and Baz. We ordered the Waterstones edition and are really excited!
The Monster of Elendhaven – Jennifer Giesbrecht (September 24th)
This is a Tor.com novella and I seem to really like those! It’s a dark fantasy, maybe even horror and I’m not sure I can handle that haha. But at least it’s only 160 pages haha. It’s set in a world reminiscent of Jack the Ripper’s London and that sounds amazing.
The Tenth Girl – Sara Faring (September 24th)
I’m part of the blog tour for this one and I’m super excited to start reading it! This is a historical fiction mystery type of book and it seems to have a lot of ingredients I will love!
Slay – Brittney Morris (September 24th)
Even though I’m not a gamer at all, Slay sounds like an amazing book. And in many ways this book seems to discuss a lot of subjects we see in the real world these days.
Steel Crow Saga – Paul Krueger (September 24th)
When people come together that couldn’t be any more different than they are, things can get interesting. Four people who should be enemies have to work to fight the same evil. All of these characters sound really interesting and I want to know how this story plays out.
Anya and the Dragon – Sofiya Pasternack (September 24th)
This is a middle grade fantasy and has to do with dragons (big surprise there..). The synopsis tells us Anya has to choose between saving the dragon and saving her family. And what more do you want from a MG dragon book?
The Future of Another Timeline – Annalee Newitz (September 24th)
I’m so excited for this one! It’s about time travel and murder and I’m already in love! I adored The Psychology of Time Travel and while this is a different kind of story I’m hoping to love it as much.
The Bone Houses – Emily Lloyd-Jones (September 24th)
I have to say the first thing that I noticed about this book is the cover. It’s unique and definitely makes me want to know what the story is about. I’ve never read a story about gravediggers, add a mountain range that once belonged to the fae and the dead not always staying dead and I nee this book now! Another perfect Halloween read.
TIger Queen – Annie Sullivan (September 10th)
A Touch of Gold is a book we both enjoyed and Tiger Queen sounds like it’s going to be amazing as well. Annie is such a sweet person and we’re excited to read her new story. We’re both on the blog tour, so our review will be online next month.
So this extensive list contains all of our anticipated releases for September 2019. And we’re sure there are even more wonderful releases that we missed. Let us know down below is there are anymore releases you’re excited for!
