TTT #88 | Auto-buy Authors Part 2

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Auto-buy Authors Part 2. For us it’s a part two, because Isabelle did this one last week, because she loved the topic. Let’s check out my list!

Jennifer L. Armentrout Ever since I’ve read LUX, I’ve been sold when it comes to this author’s books. I love the fact that she does a little bit of everything: YA, Romance, Contemporary, Paranormal, etc. I haven’t come across a lot of authors who can do that so well. My all time favorite will always be LUX!

Sarah J. Maas Of course, there has been a lot of hype around this author. Both of her series (Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses) have been very popular. I am definitely one of the fans (even if I haven’t finished Kingdom of Ash yet, oops!). Her next release is on top of my list and I can’t wait to see what she does.

V.E. Schwab I’ve actually only read a couple books by this author so far, but have been very impressed! The worlds and characters she creates are amazing and I will continue to read everything this author writes. I’m also very excited to say I get to meet her in October!!

Cassandra Clare The Shadowhunters world is one I was a bit late joining, but I’m happy I eventually did. The Infernal Devices will always be my favorite, but I love this world. She’s planning on adding some books to this world in the next few years that have me very happy!

Jay Kristoff I was a little late joining in with reading his books, but I’m mad at myself for taking so long. It started with The Illuminae Files and earlier this year I read Lifl1k3. As I’m writing this I’m just about halfway into Nevernight and am loving it. Jay Kristoff is an amazing writer and I love how he interacts with his fans.

Jennifer Lynn Barnes Isabelle actually introduced me to The Naturals series and I was hooked. As a big fan of Criminal Minds, this is the perfect YA series to. I haven’t read anything else by her yet, but the books are already on my shelf waiting to be read.

Brigid Kemmerer I have actually had Letters to the Lost on my shelf for quite some time, but haven’t read it yet. When her book A Curse so Dark and Lonely was being promoted, I knew it was a book I needed to read. I’m happy to say I wasn’t wrong about that. That book was amazing and I can’t wait to see what she does with a contemporary.

Cynthina Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows Okay, technically I just listed three authors at once. I have my reasons though. All three of these authors wrote My Lady Jane. This was my first historical fiction and it was so good. They have such a fun take on history and you wouldn’t know three authors worked on this book together. Anything these authors write together need to be on my shelf.

Leigh Bardugo At the beginning of this year I finally got around to read the Grishaverse trilogy and loved them. They weren’t my first books by this author though, because Six of Crows was already on my list of favorites. Leigh Bardugo knows how to write and I’m so curious about Ninth House that comes out later this year.

Laini Taylor Even though I’ve only read two books by this author and currently reading a third book, I know Laini Taylor will be an auto-buy author. She has a way of writing and worldbuilding that sucks you right in! The Daughter of Smoke & Bone Trilogy is definitely proof of that.

So these are ten of my auto-buy authors. I can tell you now that there are definitely more than ten. I’m going to cheat a bit and mention a few here: Kelsey Kingsley, Kelsie Stelting, Kayla Tirrell, Morgan G. Farris, Taylor Danae Colbert and so many more! Who are your auto-buy authors? Feel free to leave your links in the comments!

    1. I’m really curious about Ninth House. Her doing something different than YA is going to be very interesting!

  1. I LOVE Jennifer Lynn Barnes, she has written so many great books! I have loved almost everything that I have read by her. My first read of hers was The Fixer, which if you haven’t read you totally should. I wasn’t a huge fan of it’s sequel (The Long Game), but The Fixer blew me away. I got into The Naturals and really loved it, but only got to read the first two, so I want to catch up on that series.

I am also obsessed with Laini Taylor’s books because she has an INCREDIBLE imagination and also created my favorite romance in the world between Sarai and Lazlo (Strange the Dreamer duology). If you loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone you will LOVE Strange the Dreamer as well.

    1. I have The Fixer on my shelf, so I’m definitely excited to read it. I only have one more to go in The Naturals!

She definitely has an amazing imagination!! I have Strange the Dreamer ready and I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about it!

    1. If you liked his work with Amie Kaufman, I think you’ll like the work he does on his own.

  2. Cassandra Clare and Leigh Bardugo made my list this week, but I also love Laini Taylor’s words and so far Jennifer L. Armentrout as well. I say every week I need to read one of VE Schwab’s books… they sound so good but I haven’t done it yet!

    1. I love it when the things I use in my top ten end up on other people’s lists as well. I really recommend Schwab!

  3. I still have to read Laini Taylor! I think because her books are so massive I’ve been psyching myself out from reading them yet. Although I think I did buy that whole trilogy immediately so it’s just on me for not reading it lol. I love your list! Kristoff is definitely a popular one, I need to jump on that train!

    1. Taylor is an author you really have to be in the mood for. If you’re looking for a light read definitely don’t start reading it. If you can handle a book with a lot of worldbuilding, etc., definitely give it a go. She’s an amazing writer.

  4. Cassandra Clare and Brigid Kemmerer are on my list as well! Seriously they have written some of my favourite books.

    1. I had the same thing visiting all the lists today. There are so many authors out there I still want to to try.

    1. Hope you enjoy them when you get a chance to read them 🙂

    1. I’m thankful I started The Naturals series. It’s so good!

    1. Yeah, Brigid’s book was a really pleasant surprise! Thanks for stopping by as well 🙂

    1. I’ve heard many amazing things about it! I hope we both enjoy it 🙂
