TTT #85 | Books On My Summer 2019 TBR

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books On My Summer 2019 TBR. As you all might know, I don’t really set TBR’s for myself. However, I do have a bunch of books I plan on reading asap, or at least this summer. So today I’ll show 10 of the books I plan on reading this summer. Let’s get into it!

Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard

I’m ashamed to say I still haven’t read this one! The Witchlands series is a wonderful fantasy series and I was so excited to continue. I’m sure I will love Bloodwitch once I finally pick it up haha. The reviews have been quite positive so I’m very confident!

Legendary & Finale – Stephanie Garber

After being a bit disappointed by Caraval I couldn’t get myself to pick up Legendary. But since these UK editions are so gorgeous I did buy the sequels as soon as they were released. And I have been hearing good things about both books. Almost everyone seems to like Legendary better than Caraval so hopefully I will feel the same! And then I can continue with Finale right away.

Heartstopper vol 2 – Alice Oseman

I hardly ever preorder books. But I made an exception for Heartstopper vol. 2. I adored the first volume of this Graphic Novel and was super excited for the sequel right away. There is a webcomic going on for these books but I much rather get the physical books. I also like supporting this author, since I love her work so much. Can’t wait to read more about these two cute boys!

Voyager – Diana Gabaldon

I have spend about two months reading Outlander, and the same goes for the sequel. However, when I was reading Dragonfly in Amber I realized they had the whole series on Storytel. And I think this summer will be a great moment to pick the series back up. Hopefully with the audiobook I can get through this one relatively quickly. And I might pick up more volumes after this one.

Vengeful – V.E. Schwab

I got a subbox for this wonderful book. And I did read a part of it right away. But then I got my hands on one of my most anticipated releases so I decided to put Vengeful down for a little bit. And while I loved those first couple of chapters, I just didn’t pick up the book again. We get a new character in Vengeful and from what I saw of her, I already LOVE her! Can’t wait to read more.

Nevernight – Jay Kristoff

I have heard so many great things about this series! But I’ve also heard some negative things. So I decided to just try it out for myself. Candyce and I are doing a buddyread for Nevernight. And if we love it we’ll also read Godsgrave (and possibly Darkdawn). But since I’m not completely sure about the series yet, I figured I would hold off on getting the rest of the series.

The Poppy War – R.F. Kuang

This book has been on the top of my wishlist for awhile and I was so happy to get it! But its been a while since and I have still to read. I did start the audiobook but quickly realized that wasn’t the way to go for this book. So I do plan on reading the physical copy this summer. I also just want to say I adore this cover. This is exactly what I want in a book!

Quests for Glory – Soman Chainani

The original trilogy in this wonderful MG series is one of my favorites ever. So when they started a new trilogy in this series I was super happy! And I got this one pretty soon after it was released. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten the time to pick it up yet. I’m sure I will love this one so much but it is a pretty big one!

Escaping From Houdini – Kerri Maniscalco

Once again, I was pretty disappointed in the first book in this series. But after a while the title for book 3, Escaping From Houdini, was shared. And you have to admit, it’s an amazing title! So I had to read the second book so I could get to this one. Hunting Prince Dracula (book 2) was better than I was expecting so I hope Escaping from Houdini will be great.

Death Note: Black Edition vol. 1 – Tsugumi Ohba

I think this is the manga I have owned for the longest. But somehow I never picked it up to actually read it. I have heard so many people talk about Death Note, either the manga or the anime and they all seem to love it. The story sounds super interesting so I hope I will enjoy it as much as most people do!

These are 10 (or actually 11) of the books I plan on reading this summer. Have you read any of these? And what do you plan on reading this summer? Let me know in the comments!

    1. Thanks! Haha, yes it’s one of the only ones I’m 100% sure about I will be reading. So excited for that release!

    1. That’s great to hear!! I loved the first couple of chapters. It’s just soooo big haha

    1. Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed Legendary, I plan on picking it up soon!

  1. The Dennard series sounds fun, I’ve been kinda wanting to read those for a while. I should this summer- especially since it’s been a while since I’ve read a good fantasy series. And
I’ve never read death Note but I’ve definitely heard of it!

    1. I really like the Witchlands series, especially the focus on friendship (in the first book at least). And it has an interesting magic system. Hope you’ll enjoy it as well!

  2. I read The Poppy War this spring. I hope to start The Witchlands books this summer. I still want to read VE Schwab’s books, but they didn’t win the TBR lottery for my summer TBR (I used a random number generator to pick my books).

    1. I love the idea of picking your books at random, I have such difficulties choosing sometimes!

  3. Vengeful is one of my favorite book. VE Schwab is one of my all time favorite authors. Legandary and Finale are both so great. I plan to read Nevernight next month with a group of bookstagrammers.

    1. Yes, VE Schwab is one of my favorites as well! Makes it even more shameful I haven’t finished Vengeful yet haha. I hope we all love Nevernight!

  4. When I saw there’d be a new trilogy in the school of good and evil, I immediately had to think of you haha! I really need to start reading the original trilogy! It’s been on my shelves for so long, pfft.

Great list you got here! The Kerri Maniscalco books are ones I really want to read as well. Own the first one, so I need to get on with things, lol.

Nevernight is one I really want to finish as well in the summer, so I can binge-read book 2 and 3 when 3 releases.

    1. Hahaha, yes you need to get on that SOON! It’s such a wonderful series <3
I feel like the first Kerri Maniscalco book is a perfect fall/Halloween read so I would read it in October if I were you! I might actually save this one for later as well haha. There goes my TBR, oops.
Hope we all love Nevernight, would be wonderful to do a binge read with the whole series.

    1. That good to know! I don’t mind a slower start but it’s good to hear it will pick up later on πŸ˜€
