Book Beginnings on Friday isn’t a prompt that I’ve done in awhile, so I decided to give it another go.This meme was created by Rose City Reader.
The idea is to post the first sentence or so of the book you’re currently reading. After that you talk about your initial thoughts about the sentence, book or anything to do with that. I don’t know how often I will do this, but it seems like fun from time to time.
At the moment I planned all of my posts for this week, I was getting ready to start my ARC of Happy Messy Scary Love by Leah Konen. I am participating in the blog tour and my review will actually be online the day after this comes online! Happy Messy Scary Love releases on May 14th!
“What are you doing this summer, Olivia?” They’re the words I dread, scarier than any of the movies I watch at night, any of the Stephen King novels, or even that true crime documentary I watched in April.
My first impression of the first couple of lines is that this sounds just like a book I will love! It’s clear our main character likes books and other things that I like. I expect this to be a sweet contemporary that takes our main character on a journey.
After reading the blurb again, I remember why I’m so excited for this book. Our main character just wants to binge horror movies with her online friend, but then things get complicated. I love books with twists, friendships and even a little romance. It’s clear things are going to go as planned and I can’t wait to see how things play out.
If you’re curious if this book met my expectations, visit the blog tomorrow for my review during the blog tour! If you enjoy contemporaries, what is your favorite?
