As booklovers, there never is a month that goes by that we don’t add books to our collection. Today we want to share our July bookhaul. Were we good? Or did we at a lot to our collection?
Candyce
I was a good girl in July, haha. At the beginning of the month I went to Amsterdam with Isabelle. There was a street sale at a bookstore there. I left there with two books. Other than that I ordered one book. The rest of the month I didn’t order anything else. I also participated in a bookish summer swap that a friend of ours organized! I was lucky enough to get three books from the person who pulled my name!
One Small Thing – Erin Watt
Erin Watt is the author behind the Royals series that I still need to finish. One Small Thing is there newest book and it sounds amazing. And just look at that cover! It’s stunning! This seems like the perfect summer read, but I don’t know if I will read it before the summer is over.
Final Girls – Riley Sager
This cover caught my eye at the bookstore. Recently, I have discovered thrillers. I have loved the ones I have read so far, so I decided to add this one to my collection. With Halloween being only a few months away, I know this will be added to my TBR.
A Thousand Perfect Notes – C.G. Drews
It’s amazing when a blogger gets a book published. We both read her blog and knew this book was coming. It has a beautiful cover and the story sounds amazing. I have heard a lot of amazing things about this book, so it’s another book I hope to get to soon!
Those were the books that I bought, the next three books are the ones that I received from the summer swap!
The Hating Game – Sally Thorne
The Hating Game is a very popular romance. I believe it’s becoming a movie as well, at least the rights have been bought. I have been seeing this everywhere and I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up. So I am really happy that I got this one! It’s an enemies to lovers romance.
Midnight Sun – Trish Cook
I had never heard of this book until I saw the trailer for the movie. A girl that is allergic to the sun and starts to live her life in the evening. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be allergic to the sun! I am the type of person who likes reading the book before seeing the movie, so I am very happy with this one!
More Than We Can Tell – Brigid Kemmerer
This book may seem familiar and that is true. I made a boo-boo, haha. When I was in London I bought this book without realizing I had added it to my wishlist for the summer swap. More Than We Can Tell is definitely a book I want to read and think it’s really sweet it was in my package. This book will go to a good home though. My extra copy will be going to Isabelle.
Isabelle
I think I did a pretty decent job with not buying too many books this month. Only 7 book are added to my collection this month and I’ve I already read two of them.
Final Girls – Riley Sager
Candyce already mentioned this but we went to Amsterdam for a sale and found this gem. I had heard good things about it, it was pretty cheap and the rest is history haha. The cover is amazing and I really want to read this one soon. After reading In A Dark Dark Wood in July I have a craving for more thrillers. So this might just be one I’ll pick up soon.
Afar – Leila del Duca
I read a chapter sample from this one a while ago, it might’ve come in either an Owlcrate or a Fairyloot. Normally I don’t read the chapter samplers but this time I did and I enjoyed what I read. I remember seeing this one at the airport in Minnesota last April but it was a bit too expensive for my taste. However, this time around, at the sale, it was only 5 euros! Now obviously I had to get that haha. Hope to read it soon.
Starfire vol 1 – Amanda Conner
As you could’ve seen in my wrap-up, I already read this one. I never heard of Stargirl before but the price and the cover convinced me to buy this one. Because I usually read comics/graphic novels quite soon after purchasing them I don’t feel as bad after buying a couple. I know I’ll read them soon and I usually only have a handful unread. Its nice to have at least one unread so I know I’ll have one to read if I get a comic craving.
Animal Noir – Izar Lunacek
This gritty graphic novel was the last one I snatched at the sale. The concept immediately caught my attention and for that price I just couldn’t not buy it. I’m super happy with the growth of my manga/graphic novel shelf in the last year and a half. If you told me this 2 years ago I probably wouldn’t have believed you haha.
The Good Daughter – Karin Slaughter
My parents were in Maastricht this first weekend of July and visited the most beautiful bookstore in the country. I’m super jealous as I’ve never been there. They sent me a bunch of pics and asked if they could bring me any books. So I asked them to pick up the Dutch versions of Karin Slaughers latest books.
Pieces of You – Karin Slaughter
This is the other Karin Slaughter book my parents gave me. Karin Slaughter is one of my favorite authors ever, and definitely my favorite thriller author. Her books are so suspenseful and amazing. I read all of them in Dutch so that’s why I got these in Dutch too. They also release a bit earlier than the English ones! Isn’t that crazy?
Heart of Thorns – Bree Barton
Heart of Thorns was the Fairyloot book of the month. I love the cover in this book. This is another bookbox book to add to my growing collection of to read books haha. I’m trying to pick up my bookbox books kinda first as I have way to many unread. Seems like a bit of a waste of those bookboxes and this was actually a reading goal for this year haha.
So these are the books we added to our collection this month! What was your most anticipated purchase in July?
I also loved in a dark dark wood, and final girls is also on my tbr since there’s a new book out from this author 😊😊
Good to hear you enjoyed In A Dark Dark Wood! And yay! I hope we all get to enjoy Final Girls soon. I didn’t know the author had a new book out already, if I enjoy Final Girls I’ll definitely get that as well.
Great haul! I hope you like A Thousand Perfect Notes! I need to read that one! I love the cover of Heart of Thorns! Its awesome!
Brittany recently posted…Friday Face-Off: Starry Sky
I am looking forward to reading both! Friends have loved them, so I hope I do as well. Will review when I have read them.
