So this isn’t really a tag but I saw it over at Destiny’s blog Howlinglibraries and thought it would be fun to do as well! We’re going to look at the most popular books on my TBR. The idea is super simple, you go to your Goodreads want-to-read shelf, sort the books by number of ratings and look at the first 10 (or 20). I decided to pick my own-tbr shelf, that’s my shelf on Goodreads for books I already own but have yet to read. So these books are on my actual TBR. I also decided to take a look at the 10 highest rated books on my TBR and if there was much overlap. So let’s take a look at the most popular books on my TBR.
Most popular by number of ratings
1. The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien
2.356.860 ratings – 4,25 average
I’m not surprised this is the most popular book on my TBR. At some point I do really want to read this one. I have seen all of the movies so I know the story. Obviously I still want to read it but it’s not as much of a priority as other books.
2. Artemis Fowl – Eoin Colfer
422.607 ratings – 3,83 average
This one I was super surprised to see on this list haha. I picked it up at a charity shop about 2,5 years ago. This is another one that isn’t really a priority. Also, did you see the drop in number of ratings compared to the Hobbit, it’s insane!
3. The Wise Man’s Fear – Patrick Rothfuss
317.617 ratings – 4,58 average
I really want to read this one, so many people seem to love it. The reason I haven’t picked it up yet has mostly to do with the fact that book 3 still hasn’t come out and we don’t know when the conclusion to the Kingkiller Chronicles will be published.
4. Will Grayson, Will Grayson – John Green & David Leviathan
281.795 ratings – 3,82 average
I actually started reading this one years ago but I couldn’t get into the story. It might be completely different if I picked it up now but honestly I kinda lost interest.
5. The Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson
271.178 ratings – 4,44 average
This is a book I want to read VERY soon. I really enjoyed the Brandon Sanderson books I’ve read so far and I can’t wait to pick up the other 6 books by him I own.
6. The Red Pyramid – Rick Riordan
263.854 ratings – 4,07 average
This is another one I got at the charity shop. I did enjoy the Percy Jackson series, although I’m not that big of a fan. After reading those books I did want to read The Red Pyramid as it has other mythology as the base of the story and I love reading more about different mythologies.
7. Quiet – Susan Cain
243.434 ratings – 4,05 average
I have picked up Quiet a long while ago but I never finished the book. It was really interesting to read! With this book in mind I decided I wanted to read more non-fiction and this one is definitely on the list.
8. Before I Go to Sleep – S.J. Watson
233.533 ratings – 3,88 average
The first thriller! I didn’t expect to see this one. This isn’t on my immediate TBR and it could be quite a wile before I get to these ones.
9. Dragonfly in Amber – Diana Gabaldon
231.496 ratings – 4,32 average
The second book in the Outlander series <3 I already started reading this one but I had to put it down. Next week I’m going on a little trip and it would amazing to bring this one with me.
10. The Well of Ascension – Brandon Sanderson
195.739 ratings – 4,36 average
And another Brandon Sanderson book! I feel a little bit bad about having so many of his book on my shelves, unread. I’ll probably want to continue reading this series right away after reading the first one.
Most popular by average rating
1. The Way of Kings – Brandon Sanderson
195.881 ratings – 4,64 average
Andddd another one! More Brandon Sanderson. This one has to wait for a while before I pick it up.
2. The Wise Man’s Fear – Patrick Rothfuss
317.617 ratings – 4,58 average
This might actually be the most popular book on my TBR. It’s high on this list and it was high on the number of ratings list, so there you have it.
3. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
142.717 ratings – 4,56 average
I’m a tiny bit ashamed that I still haven’t read this one yet. Luckily I do own the book but I feel like I need to read it asap. Especially with the movie coming along.
4. The Language of Thorns – Leigh Bardugo
14.615 ratings – 4,47 average
This has a low number of overall ratings but is still quite popular. It’s an anthology about fairytales in the Grisha world. I have read part of the first story and hope you do so soon.
5. The Hero of Ages – Brandon Sanderson
185.112 ratings – 4,47 average
Apparently the second book in this series is more popular than the first book! This is a series I really look forward to reading.
6. Death Note Black Edition Vol 1. – Tsugumi Ōba
7.838 ratings – 4,47 average
This is the manga I own the longest and I still haven’t read yet. I do hope to change that soon as the premise sounds so interesting.
7. Lady Midnight – Cassandra Clare
114.643 ratings – 4,45 average
I read about 100-150 pages of this one but it didn’t grab me at the time. Candyce and I actually planned a buddy read for this book and it’s sequel somewhere toward the end of the year.
8. The Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson
271.178 ratings – 4,44 average
We already talked about this one, I guess this is the second most popular book on my shelves.
9. Nevermoor – Jessica Townsend
6.626 ratings – 4,43 average
I reallyyyyy wanted to read this one last month. And now one of my friends is texting us that it’s such an amazing book and I need to read it asap haha.
10. Legendary – Stephanie Garber
3.364 ratings – 4,40 average
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Caraval, I was actually a bit surprised so many people loved it so much. However I couldn’t resist getting the sequel, especially not with the beautiful covers underneath the dust jacket. I’m planning on reading this one very soon.
So these were the 20 -well, actually 18 since 2 books are on both lists, most popular books on my TBR. This was a lot of fun to do! Let me know in the comments what some of the most popular books on your TBR are.
Sooooo many good ones on this list! Especially The Hate U Give ♥
I really need to read that one ASAP! Just saw the movie teaser trailer and it looked so good
