Review| Fundamentals of Being a Good Girl – Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone

After loving the A Christmas Notch series, I was really excited that this author duo was going to write together again. Fundamentals of Being a Good Girl is their new release. Today I want to tell you all about it and what I thought!

A big thank you to Netgalley and Avon for providing me with an eARC to read and review. This doesn’t affect my opinion in any way.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Murphy and USA Today bestselling author Sierra Simone comes a brand-new college town raunch-com about a sexy single dad professor and a feisty law school grad turned nanny in this steamy tale of Academic Affairs…

She wants to be a good girl. He’s dying to teach her.

New to town and freshly single, rookie lecturer Maddie isn’t looking for trouble … until she ends up in bed with Bram – a sexy, grumpy single dad – on her first night.

The catch? He’s her new boss at home (he needs a nanny), and her colleague at work (he’s a professor, too). So to make it work, they set some ground

  • No more sex

  • They can never be alone in the house together

But Maddie’s great at breaking these rules, and Bram’s even better at dishing out consequences…

Review

After reading from this author duo before, I was expecting a new story with laugh out loud moments, steamy scenes, and a story that hits you in all the feels. They met my expectations and then some! I read this book in one sitting and I was sad when I didn’t have more pages to read.

Bram is a busy professor and a single dad (twin girls and a teenager) while his ex is away for work. Things get a bit too busy and he needs some help. Maddie is just getting over a very public relationship that wasn’t always kind for her. It’s time for her to try something new and figure out what she wants. While teaching two classes, she also does some nanny work to make ends meet. Neither of them expected their one night stand to turn into a working relationship.

The chemistry between these two was off the charts. Even though the boss/employee situation made the idea of pursuing a relationship hard, they couldn’t resist their attraction. Even though their relationship didn’t get further than the benefits, it was so much more. Bram helped Maddie find her confidence and stand up for herself! She really figured out what she wanted in this story. I also loved the moments with her and Bram’s girls. Bram was the sweetest girl dad and Maddie definitely helped him do something for himself and slow down a bit.

On top of this amazing romance, we had a great set of side characters and I loved the footnotes in this story! Most of the time they had me laughing out loud. I also really appreciated the cameos and mentions of things readers would notice if they read A Christmas Notch. The writing in this story is seamless and I wouldn’t say two authors wrote this. They clearly make a great author duo. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

Fundamentals of Being a Good Girl was such a good book! I’m so glad that I have the Afterlight edition of this book on my shelves. There were plenty of things in this one I could see becoming a book in this world, so I hope we see more of these characters. Have you read anything by these authors? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
