I love looking at Goodreads lists and I came across a list with the 104 most popular science fiction and fantasy books from the last 3 years. Of course I wanted to see which ones I have read so far and if I understand that they’re on the list. After seeing I have read way less of them than I expected, I also looked at the ones I plan on reading! So let’s jump in!

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil – V.E. Schwab
The most popular book! And of course I have read it, I adore V.E. Schwab and I try to read her newest releases as soon as possible. I loved this book about lesbian vampires, but don’t expect a lot of action. This is more like Addie LaRue, another book I loved! If you enjoyed that one, this might be a book you will like too.
The Fragile Threads of Power – V.E. Schwab
Another V.E. Schwab book! I adore the Shades of Magic trilogy and this is the start to a new story set in the same world with some of the same characters. It was a wonderful book and I was so happy to be back here. Unfortunately no news on when we are getting the next book yet, but I’m for sure looking forward to it!
Automatic Noodle – Annalee Newitz
This is a Tordotcom novella and you might know how much I adore those! It always amazes me how much story there can be in so little pages. This one has about 160 pages and it felt like a very complete novel. I highly recommend this one!

Katabasis – R.F. Kuang
I have enjoyed every R.F. Kuang book I’ve read so far and I’m excited to dive into this one. Academic rivals, a journey to Hell, and raving reviews, sign me up! It sounds like a book I would really enjoy so I hope to read it soon.
The Tainted Cup – Robert Jackson Bennett
I have an eARC for this one that I still haven’t gotten to. The third book will be published soon, so it might be the perfect time for me to finally read this one. I’ve seen really good reviews for this murder mystery set in a fantasy world. A start to a fantasy series with a murder mystery sounds like a lot of fun!
The Raven Scholar – Antonia Hodgson
Another eARC I’ve had for a while now and one that seems to be really popular. This has a competition and a murder, some of my absolute favourite things in novels and especially in fantasy ones. I have really high hopes for this one, but that also makes me a little scared haha.
Floating Hotel – Grace Curtis
My last eARC on the list! to be honest, I forgot about this one for a bit, but the title reminded me that I might have this one. This is a cosy scifi and I have not read enough of those. It sounds really cute and fun and talking about this book makes me want to read it!
