Looking Back at Our Bookhauls| May 2025

Another month has passed, so it’s time to see if we actually read what we add to our shelves. What did we get in May 2025? And did we pick any of them up? Keep on reading this month’s looking back at our bookhauls to find out!

Candyce

In May 2025 I added 19 books to my shelves. I said in the bookhaul that I had already read a few, so let’s see if I’ve finished anymore of them since then.

The Survivor Wants to Die at the End – Adam Silvera
Unread

So I haven’t read The Survivor Wants to Die at the End yet. Part of me is still kind of afraid to pick it up I guess? This series is very emotional and I’ve heard some mixed reviews about this book. I do still very much want to read it thought.

Silver Elite – Dani Francis
Read

Silver Elite was everywhere before releasing last year and it sounded amazing. Books like this do always worry me though, because hyped books aren’t always as amazing as they seem. Silver Elite was one that met all of my expectations and then some! The ending!! The sequel just released and I’ll be reading it soon.

The Glittering Edge – Alyssa Villaire
Unread

I’m a big fan of books with love curses and complicated families, so The Glittering Edge does still sound right up my alley. I recently got the audiobook, so I’ll be immersive reading this book soon.

Shield of Sparrows – Devney Perry
Read

Another book that was everywhere last year! And another one that I absolutely loved. May 2025 was a month I read quite a few books with cliffhangers, haha. Just like Silver Elite, the sequel to Shield of Sparrows recently released. So it’ll be time to continue this series.

Dream On, Ramona Riley – Ashley Herring Blake
Unread

In my bookhaul last year, I said that Ashley Herring Blake is one of my auto-buy authors. That’s still the case and I’m really shocked I haven’t read this small town romance. I actually believe the third and final book in this series releases later this year. It’s time to catch up. So many books and really there is never enough time, haha.

The Wish Switch – Lynn Painter
Read

Lynn Painter quickly became one of my favorite authors after I read Better Than the Movies. The Wish Switch is a cute middle grade book. I had a great time and in true middle grade fashion, our characters learn many important lessons.

What Happens in Amsterdam – Rachel Lynn Solomon
Read

I don’t read many books that take place in the country I live in, so What Happens in Amsterdam was a fun time. I enjoyed the little touches of Dutch throughout the story and places being mentioned that I know. I had a great time with this second chance romance.

One Golden Summer – Carley Fortune
Read

So I didn’t end up rereading Every Summer After before diving into this one, but I had a great time with One Golden Summer. Charlie and Alice’s story is one I ended up being really invested in and Nan was honestly the star of the show.

Heart of the Sun – Mia Sheridan
Unread

So I honestly forgot that this seems to be a dystopian romance. I’m currently in my era of reading dystopian romances, so I think this is the perfect time for me to finally pick up Heart of the Sun.

Beautiful Venom – Rina Kent
Unread

I feel like a broken record when it comes to Rina Kent’s books, but I’m slowly working my way through all of her books. So I want to collect the pretty editions while they’re available, so they’re ready when I get to them.

The Traitor Queen – Danielle L. Jensen
Unread

I recently thought about picking up The Traitor Queen, but I think I need to go back and reread The Bridge Kingdom first. It’s been a little bit too long since I read it to be able to really remember what’s going on. I think I’ll enjoy it more by doing that first.

Any Trope But You – Victoria Lavine
Read

Any Trope But You was a fun read. I love when one of our characters is an author. In this case, our bestselling romance author doesn’t seem to believe in happily ever afters anymore. Her sister gets her a getaway to Alaska and this definitely gives her time to explore new things and find love that she wasn’t expecting. The mention of romance tropes throughout the book was a fun extra touch to this story. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author.

Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow – Jessica Townsend
Unread

Nevermoor is still one of my favorite middle grade series and after years of waiting, Silverborn finally released last year. I still need to read Hollowpox, but part of me has been putting it off. Just because who knows when the book after Silverborn will be released, haha. I need to stop thinking that way and just have fun with these two books.

Releasing 10 – Chloe Walsh
Unread

I’m currently still working on the second book in this series, but they have been calling to me. Recently the size of the book doesn’t really matter to me, so why not tackle a series of huge and emotional books? Haha.

Problematic Summer Romance – Ali Hazelwood
Unread

I don’t know why I haven’t read Problematic Summer Romance yet. I love Ali Hazelwood’s books. Besides this one, I need to read Mate and I’ll be caught up with her backlist. This age gap romance is a book I’ve been excited about since reading Not in Love.

A Sign of Affection Vol. 11 – Suu Morishita
Read

A Sign of Affection is still my favorite manga series so far! So of course I read this volume as soon as I got my hands on it. Unfortunately, a year later we still don’t have a release day for volume 12.

The Knight and the Moth – Rachel Gillig
Read/Unhaul

So last year I pre-ordered The Knight and the Moth, because I loved The Shepherd King duology by this author. I did read and love this book but I also unhauled this edition. Fairytloot ended up having this book in their monthly subscription, so that copy stayed on my shelves.

Dear Reader – Tate James
Unread

Last year, I decided to wait and read this trilogy until all three of the books were available. Now that we do have them all, I need to sit down and devour these. Tate James is known for her cliffhangers, so I know I won’t be able to put these down.

Not Safe for Work – Nisha J. Tuli
Read

Our main character really fights for her position and to show them just how amazing she is. Add a forced proximity romance (I mean they get stuck in the honeymoon suite together, haha), banter, and a MMC with a lot more going on than meets the eye and I had a great time. I really need to read more by Nisha J. Tuli.

End Result
Read: 9/19 – 47.4%
TBR: 10/19 – 52.6%

Isabelle

Last year in May I only got new audiobooks through Audible. I used my credit and I bought a couple of audiobooks myself! Let’s see if I managed to listen to all of them.

The Missing Half – Ashley Flowers
Read

I love Ashley Flowers’ podcast CrimeJunkie and I really enjoyed her debut novel All Good People Here, so of course I was excited for The Missing Half. As soon as I got the audiobook, I started listening to it. It was entertaining for sure and I liked this ending better than the ending of All Good People Here. Hopefully Ashley is going to write another book!

All for the Game 1 -4 – Nora Sakavic
Read

This is one of my all time favorite series and I seem to listen to these audiobooks at least once a year. I used to listen to them through another audiobook service, but I’m really happy I have these in my collection now. While I really want to listen to them again, I might hold off on a relisten until closer to the release date of The Broken Cage (whenever that might be haha).

End Result
Read: 5/5 – 100%
TBR: 0/5 – 0%

So that’s another looking back at our bookhauls! Have you read any of these? Or did you read any of the books you bought/received last month? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
