The first five months of the year are over! It’s been a year filled with so many releases that sound amazing, it’s hard not to add them to our shelves. How did we do last month? Keep on reading our May bookhaul to find out!
Candyce
In May I added 19 books to my shelves. May had so many amazing releases and I couldn’t resist. Thankfully I can say I’ve already read a few of these. Keep on reading to see what books I added to my shelves last month.
The Survivor Wants to Die at the End – Adam Silvera
They Both Die at the End and The First to Die at the End were books that were both heartbreaking, tragic, and amazing! I wasn’t expecting to get more books in this world, but Adam Silvera announced two more books. I’m scared but excited to read The Survivor Wants to Die at the End.
Silver Elite – Dani Francis
Silver Elite is the first book in a new dystopian trilogy that I’ve been hearing nothing but amazing things about. It sounds like this book has a great world and interesting psychic gifts. While I’m a little afraid of the hype, I’m too curious not to pick this one up.
The Glittering Edge – Alyssa Villaire
The Glittering Edge was Fairyloot’s YA book last month and I love this edition. This book wasn’t on my radar, but it sounds like something I’ll love. Falling in love can be deadly in this book. I wonder how the curse will be broken!
Shield of Sparrows – Devney Perry
Devney Perry has written quite a few romances that I’ve loved. Shield of Sparrows is her first fantasy romance, so of course I had to see what it’s all about. Not only does the story sound interesting, but the cover and the sprayed edges are stunning.
Dream On, Ramona Riley – Ashley Herring Blake
Since I read Delilah Green Doesn’t Care, Ashley Herring Blake has become one of my auto-buy authors. Dream On, Ramona Riley is Ashley’s newest book and it sounds amazing. We get a small town romance between a waitress and a Hollywood star. Yes, please!
The Wish Switch – Lynn Painter
Lynn Painter is one of my favorite authors who writes YA and adult romances that I’ve loved. The Wish Switch is her first middle grade book and I’m so excited to read this one. The idea of being able to make wishes come true, is always fun to read.
What Happens in Amsterdam – Rachel Lynn Solomon
Rachel Lynn Solomon is another favorite author of mine and I love that her newest romance takes place in a city I know. Amsterdam isn’t my favorite city, but I’m looking forward to seeing where this book will take us.
One Golden Summer – Carley Fortune
Charlie is a character we met in Every Summer After and I definitely wasn’t expecting us to get this story. I may need to reread Every Summer After for a little refresh before diving into One Golden Summer.
Heart of the Sun – Mia Sheridan
Dystopian romance isn’t something I’ve read a lot of, but this synopsis had me very intrigued. The pretty sprayed edges the first print has helped a little bit as well, haha.
Beautiful Venom – Rina Kent
This year I’ve been working on Rina Kent’s universe and it’s one I’ve been enjoying. So that means I want to collect her books as she releases them now. Beautiful Venom is the beginning of a new trilogy and this first edition is stunning.
The Traitor Queen – Danielle L. Jensen
I read The Bridge Kingdom in 2023 (it actually seems longer ago, haha) and I really enjoyed it. As we already know, I’m really bad at continuing series. This indie series has now been traditionally published, so I decided to pick up the newer editions with bonus content. I love the new covers.
Any Trope But You – Victoria Lavine
Any Trope But You is May’s Afterlight book and I love this edition! I actually still have this as a Netgalley eARC and I’m really hoping to read it in June. Even though it’s almost summer, I can’t pass up a wintery romance.
Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow – Jessica Townsend
Silverborn is finally here! I’ve been waiting a few years for this book, so I can finally read Hollopox. I may even start with Nevermoor and just reread the first two books.
Releasing 10 – Chloe Walsh
So I started The Boys of Tommen series in May and I’m mad at myself for waiting so long. These books are intimidating though, because they’re all huge! Releasing 10 is the newest book in this series, so I wanted to make sure to have it as I’m catching up. This edition is so floppy! That’s how all big books should be.
Problematic Summer Romance – Ali Hazelwood
I read Not in Love in January and met the characters we’ll be reading about in Problematic Summer Romance. Ali Hazelwood is giving us an age gap romance and I’m here for it. I was already intrigued by these two, so I’m so happy she wrote this story.
A Sign of Affection Vol. 11 – Suu Morishita
My favorite manga finally had another volume released! I love A Sign of Affection. The only frustrating thing is that I’ve waited months for this volume and I’m done with it in a half an hour, haha. It’s still worth it though. I hope we get a release date for volume 12 soon.
The Knight and the Moth – Rachel Gillig
I loved Rachel’s first duology and I’ve been counting down the days to get The Knight and the Moth. Early reviews have been really good and I have high expectations for this one.
Dear Reader – Tate James
I’m still catching up with Tate’s backlist, but I couldn’t resist getting Dear Reader. It’s the first book of a trilogy that will be releasing this year. I love that we’ll be getting all three books, because Tate James is a queen of cliffhangers.
Not Safe for Work – Nisha J. Tuli
Nisha has written fantasy romances I’ve heard amazing things about but still need to read. I believe that Not Safe for Work is her first contemporary romance? This workplace romance sounds amazing and a few friends of mine have loved it! I’m excited to sit down with this one.
Isabelle
I didn’t get any new physical books this month, but I did spend an Audible credit on a new audiobook this month and I bought a couple of audiobooks. So let’s take a look at those!
Audible
The Missing Half – Ashley Flowers
I love Ashley Flowers’ podcast Crime Junkie and enjoyed her debut novel All Good People Here. So obviously I had to get her second novel The Missing Half. I also started listening to it right away.
All for the Game 1 -4 – Nora Sakavic
As you might know, I love the All for the Game series. I own all the ebooks and used to listen to them on a different audiobook service. But that one stopped working for me and it still wanted to listen to these books. So I wanted to get them all on Audible and they were kind of cheap this month!
So that’s our May bookhaul! Have you read any of these? Or what books did you add to your shelves this month? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
