I was a little late to the party, but are now about to start watching this show for a third time. So obviously I had to talk about it with you all! And that show is the big hit Heated Rivalry. It is based on a book series and season 2 is on the way. Let’s talk about my feelings on the show!
Two rival hockey stars at the top of their game face an unexpected challenge when they develop feelings for each other, complicating their careers and the sport’s expectations.
Like I said, this Canadian show is based on the book series Game Changers and in particular book 2 Heated Rivalry. The story of book 1 (Game Changers) is being featured in the show as well, episode 3 is all about that couple. It was very necessary for Shane and Ilya’s story that the story of Game Changers was incorporated into the show and I think it was really well done. Shane and Ilya’s story continues in book 6 The Long Game and there will be a book 7 in the series with their story as well; Unrivaled. We are also getting a second (and I think a third) season of the show. The show runner has said that the second season will be about the second book, but not all of it because there is so much content.
I had seen so many people online talking about this show and I knew it was based on a book series. So of course I wanted to watch it, but I’ll admit I wasn’t super hyped yet. After watching the first episode I did want to continue, but I wasn’t screaming crying throwing up just yet. The second episode was good as well, but somehow it took me a while to finally continue after that one. And then I binged episodes 3, 4, 5 and 6 and bawled my eyes out.
This show made me feel so many things and it’s been awhile since a piece of media made me feel this way. Almost immediately I watched the whole thing for a second time, I did that in like 2 or maybe 3 days haha. And I have been wanting to watch it again ever since finishing it for a second time. I’m trying to pace myself and didn’t allow myself to go back to it again, but I think the time has come for me to watch it all again. These emotions need to be felt again.
Yes, this is a sexy show and the smut is in you face from the first episode. But there is also a beautiful love story, and a story about finding yourself and being allowed to be your true self. And I think there’s a lot of people who can relate to those feelings. For me that is what makes this such a great show and I think a big part of the success comes from the ability to give us something that makes us feel this way. The acting is also amazing and I’m so glad this show gave us Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, I can’t wait to see them in other things. Hudson is doing something with one of my favs; Dylan O’Brien, I cannot express how excited I am for that!
Have you watched Heated Rivalry? And have you read the books? Do you think it’s weird I want to watch it again? And what was your favourite scene? I would love to hear from you down below!

I totally get that feeling of wanting to rewatch something you really enjoy. It’s the best!
