The Thursday Murder Club books have been on my radar for a while now and I have been thinking about picking them up multiple times. Seeing that there was going to be a movie with some exceptional actors was just the push I needed to finally read the first book. I have now read the book and watched the movie, so today I wanted to talk about it!

Four irrepressible retirees spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn when they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.

I listened to the book on Audible and had a good time. It wasn’t the best murder mystery I’ve ever read, but it was a fun one and I really liked the main characters. I can see the appeal of it all and I do get why it’s such a popular book series. Personally I love having older main characters, you get such a different dynamic compared to young main characters in my opinion.

I think the movie did a fantastic job with the cast, these actors are incredible and really embodied the characters from the book. The set design was great as well, I loved looking at everything. We got a 2 hour movie, so they could do a good job of putting everything from the book into it.

There were some minor changes from the book to the movie, but nothing I was mad about it. I actually enjoyed it, it kept it fresh even though I just read the book. The story is a good one, we get a nice mystery with some twists you won’t see coming. Or at least, I didn’t see them coming haha.

One thing I didn’t expect was that I would be tearing up a little while watching the movie. That might say something about me haha, but hopefully it also says something about the movie and the acting. Overall I really enjoyed this movie (and the book!) and I hope the next book will be filmed as well. I will definitely be reading the next book!
