TTT #390 | Books that Feature Travel

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books that Feature Travel. I picked 10 books I still have on my TBR. And I tried to go for different kinds of travel, hopefully they all actually fit the topic. Let’s dive in!

1. The Future of Another Timeline – Annalee Newitz

This first book is about time travel, my favorite kind of travel in books! Of course I had to include time travel books haha. I’m not sure why I still haven’t read this one yet, it’s a story I think I will really enjoy.

2. Record of a Spaceborn Few – Becky Chambers

This one is about space travel. It’s the third book in a series and I really liked the first 2 books. I’m not sure how much traveling will be actually done in this instalment of the series. But since the other ones had a lot, I’m sure this one will have some traveling as well.

3. Escaping form Houdini – Kerri Maniscalco

I didn’t really like the first 2 books in the series, even though I really wanted to love them. However, I have heard great things about this third book in the series. And this one takes place on a ship so it fits the topic perfectly. The story sounds like one I would enjoy, although that was the case for the first 2 books as well.

4. Invictus – Ryan Graudin

Another time travel book! This one has time traveling pirates and that sounds so cool. I have been wanting to read this one for the longest time and I really hope this will be the year I pick it up.

5. Phobos3 – Victor Dixen

I’m not sure this book is available in English. The original is in French and I have read these books in Dutch. I have actually met the author a couple of years ago. This book is about space travel, they are on their way to Mars. I’m excited to find out what happens next.

6. The Wise Man’s Fear – Patrick Rothfuss

I wasn’t completely sure if this one actually featured travel. But based on the synopsis I’m sure that will be some traveling. Our main character sits down and tells his story, so he won’t truly be traveling (expect through storytelling), but in his life story there is a lot of traveling.

7. The Song of Achilles – Madeline Miller

Achilles travels to Troy for the Trojan War, so there is for sure traveling. I have put off reading this one for so long now, but everyone seems to be emotionally destroyed after reading this book and I’m not sure I’m ready for that haha.

8. The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern

In this book we have a magical traveling circus, so I’m sure this one fits the topic. I have heard so many amazing things about this book, although not everyone seems to love it. Hopefully I will enjoy it as much as most readers seem to do.

9. Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard

I loved the first two books in this series and there was a lot of traveling in both of those books. Hopefully that is the case for this third book as well, although I’m not completely sure. I have started reading this one and I probably need to go back to the beginning. But afterwards, I hope I’ll be able to say how much I loved this book.

10. These Rebel Waves – Sara Raasch

Pirates1 That for sure means travel. I really liked Sara Raasch’ previous series and I’m still curious about this story. Hopefully it was will be as good, or better, as that series. I used this book for a try a chapter tag at one point and I’m pretty sure I really enjoyed what I read.

And those were 10 books on my TBR that feature travel. Have you read any of these? I haven’t finished any of these yet, but I hope to do so pretty soon. If you have read them, I would love to hear from you down below!

  1. I really liked The Song of Achilles. Four friends and I read it with our mothers (mostly in their 70s and 80s) and had a great discussion and tea party afterwards.
