I started trying Kindle Unlimited a couple of months ago and today I wanted to share how I’m enjoying it for now. How many books did I read and is it worth it to me? Let’s dive in!

I started my subscription at the end of September last year so that means I’ve already got it for 5 months now. That is actually longer than I expected haha. I pay about €11,50 a month for the subscription (I pay in pounds and it exchanges to roughly that amount in euros). The first two months were free so I’ve paid about €35 now.

Somehow I’ve only read 4 books so far. I am half way through the 5th book but for now that comes to an average of €8,75 per book and that is not cheap haha. It’s actually more expensive than what these books cost as ebooks. So while I really like the concept and I’m happy with the big catalogue, I’m not convinced the cost is worth it for me. I’m willing to try it for a bit longer before I’m deciding. But I need to read at least 2 books a month for this to be worth it I think. I will give myself until the end of May, I will have had another vacation by then, to recalculate the worth. If my average spending per book goes down to about €5 I think it will be worth it, but if it’s much higher than that I will stick to Audible and all of my physical copies and eARC’s. Because I have more than enough to read still haha.

I will say, I really like the experience. The system is quite easy and there are a ton of books available. I get to read books I don’t think I would’ve tried otherwise as it makes it easier to see if you like them without spending money on that particular book. The series I’m currently reading (Zodiac Academy) is one I don’t think I would’ve tried without Kindle Unlimited. And I do really enjoy it, so I’m grateful for that experience for sure.
