I now have read all the books in the Aunties series by Jesse Q. Sutanto and I had to share my thoughts on this final book with you all. The first 2 books were very funny and I really enjoyed listening to them. Did this third book live up to my expectations? Let’s dive in!

After an ultra-romantic honeymoon across Europe, Meddy Chan and her husband Nathan have landed in Jakarta to spend Chinese New Year with her entire extended family. Chinese New Year, already the biggest celebration of the Lunar calendar, gets even more festive when a former beau of Second Aunt’s shows up at the Chan residence bearing extravagant gifts—he’s determined to rekindle his romance with Second Aunt and the gifts are his way of announcing his courtship.

His grand gesture goes awry however, when it’s discovered that not all the gifts were meant for Second Aunt and the Chans—one particular gift was intended for a business rival to cement their alliance and included by accident. This book is pretty short with only 278 pages, but similar to book 1 and 2 which were 299 and 293 pages I believe. I listened to all three on audio so you can imagine they were quick ones! It took me just one day to finish this book.

I really enjoy the characters in this book and I liked that we got a new location. The book in mainly set in Jakarta and we meet more of Meddy’s family. Like in the previous 2 books, we are thrown into an insane situation made even more insane by the actions of the aunties. But I once again ate it up haha. It was funny, it was fast paced and overall just really enjoyable.

There were supposed to be more books in the series but the publisher went with Jesse’s other series so this is were the road ends for the Aunties series. I would’ve like another book as the author planned more, but at the same time I’m glad that we end the series on a high note. This might become too much of the same at some point so now I just get to look back fondly on the series.
