We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is How My Reading Habits Have Changed Over Time. Candyce did a part 1 to this topic last week and today it’s my turn. Just like her, I don’t think I have 10 things to talk about, as I don’t think I have that many habits but let’s take a look!
I listen to audiobooks
This is the biggest one for sure! A couple of years ago I had never listened to an audiobook and I didn’t think I would. But these days almost half of the books I read are audiobooks. And sometimes they’re the only books I am able to read. So I’m really grateful these exist because I couldn’t imagine life without them anymore.
I read (some) romance books
This is still pretty unbelievable to me haha. But I do pick up some romance books every now and then. I keep on saying I don’t read them but I guess I actually do. There have been some really great ones and now that romantasy has become a genre, I think I might be reading more of those as well. It’s funny how our reading tastes change over time, I think overall the books I pick up are pretty different from the ones I read like 10 years ago.
I read on an ereader
This one was a bit harder to define. I have been reading on an ereader before but the last couple of years I have been reading a lot more on my phone and now my ereader compared to how many physical books I have been reading. Before I read a lot more physical books I would say. Although, with my manga obsession there have been more physical books compared to the last couple of years. So I guess we can say I have been reading a lot of different forms of books and it changes all the time.
I don’t finish series
For someone who loves reading series (I read my first standalone book of the year in September…) it amazes me how little series I finish reading in a year. I keep on starting new series and I do read some sequels but actually finishing them…. This year has been a bit better but I still have so many series I need to finish haha.
I buy less books
About 10 years ago I started buying more and more books and my collection has grown so much. But I also kept buying books I didn’t read and would be insane amounts. The last couple of years I have tried to slow down on getting new books and it looks like that is going better and better. For the first time in a long time it looks like I will have read more physical books from my TBR than the amount of new books I got so I might actually end the year with a smaller TBR than I started the year with.
I didn’t manage to think of 10 reading habits that have changed over time unfortunately but these are the ones that did change the last 10 years or so. It was interesting to think about the way I read and what I read for sure. I would love to hear about your changed reading habits, come talk to me down below!
I’m hopeless with series. It’s not so much I don’t finish them as I often discover them part way through and don’t have the time to go back and read from the beginning. I think my record is starting a series at book 14!

I buy less books, too.
I feel the same way about audiobooks. I never thought I would listen to any audiobooks, but now I want to try listening to more. I love series though and I can’t rest till I’ve read a series entirely. It was fun reading about your reading habits 🙂

I adore audiobooks, only started listening to them a few years ago and wondered why I’d never started sooner!
I don’t finish series either and I’ve bought less this year.
Before I started blogging, I had only a handful of books at any given time. I would pick up more once the pile was down to one or two books. Often, there were months between additions. Now, I have over 100 books on my bookshelves that I haven’t read. I’ve started reading more new releases than I used to, especially ARCs. That’s something I’ve tried to cut back on, as I want to read the backlist books, too.

I’ve discovered that I personally tend to read books in series out of order, because I buy a lot of my physical books at the thrift store, and I grab ebooks when they are daily deals, and if a book looks good, I’m going to buy it and (maybe) read it regardless of where it falls in a series. And sometimes I don’t even read the rest of the series ever (or at least I haven’t read them yet, because I’m not dead).
I hope you have a great week.
