TTT #356 | Books That Provide a Much-Needed Escape

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books That Provide a Much-Needed Escape. I think all books provide an escape but there are definitely books that make escaping easier! It was difficult picking books that really fit this prompt, but I tried my best, so let’s jump in.

1. Throne of Glass – Sarah J. Maas

Is anyone surprised I put this one on here? I love this series and I can always escape to this world. Whenever I reread these books I fly through them and forget everything around me haha.

2. The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

This might be a weird one, because it also made me think about our world a lot. But these books sucked me in and I couldn’t put them down until I was finished. For the third one I didn’t even go to sleep until like 5 in the morning because I couldn’t put it down haha.

3. Haikyu! – Haruichi Furudate

I adore this series and this past year it definitely has been my go to escape. It has been such a wonderful story and I have been loving every moment of it. I hated finishing the series and I will for sure reread this series when I need a little escape moment.

4. The Naturals – Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I wish more people read this series! As a criminal minds fan, this is the perfect series to escape into. I highly recommend this to basically everyone haha, but especially if you like reading about serial killers and a bunch of teenagers helping the FBI.

5. Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo

Talking about escape haha, this heist story is a perfect escape from the real world. Another one I have reread before and I love this world and these characters so so much.

6. Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston

This is one of the only contemporary stories on this list. But it truly does belong here. It was such a wonderful read and I couldn’t put it down. I loved this love story and it gave me some hope haha.

7. A Deadly Education – Naomi Novik

I love a good dark academia story and this one takes the cake! It is such an addictive series and I for sure used this one as an escape. I would love to reread this series at some point, it was a cruel world to be in but I adored the characters.

8. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

It was hard picking just one V.E. Schwab book because I love them all and they all provide an escape. But I think this one fit the criteria the best. I loved seeing part of our world in different era’s, it was such a good book!

9. The Diviners – Libba Bray

It took me awhile to finally read this series but I loved it a lot and I loved escaping into this story. I really enjoy reading historical books, especially when they have a fantasy element like this one did.

10. The Foxhole Court – Nora Sakavic

This has been one of my go to rereads the past couple of years, it is such a comfort read for me. I love escaping with these characters and will get consumed by these books haha. It’s crazy how fast I go through them.

And that was my list of books that provided me with a much-needed escape! Have you read any of these? Do you think there are good escape books? Let me know in the comments down below!
