We’re about halfway through April and I’ve started thinking about what I want to read next month. I’m still not sure how that’s possible, but this year is flying by again. So let’s take a look at my May TBR. I’m writing this post a bit earlier in the month, so I’m sure more books will be added once May comes around.
Buddy Reads/Group Reads
The Dragon Republic – R.F. Kuang
As I’m typing this, I’m currently reading The Poppy War. It’s an intense book, but it’s good and I’m decided we chose this as a series slayers series. So of course, we’ll be reading the second book, The Dragon Republic in May.
Where Sleeping Girls Lie – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé
Ace of Spades was one of my favorite books the year it released and I’ve been excited to see what this author would do next. So when Where Sleeping Girls Lie was announced I knew I’d be reading it. In May it’s a group read in the TBR and Beyond group on Facebook I help moderate and I’m excited to read this YA contemporary mystery.
Truly, Madly, Deeply – Alexandria Bellefleur
For my swoonalong read, I’ll be reading Truly, Madly, Deeply. Alexandria Bellefleur published The Fiancee Farce last year and I loved that book so much. Truly, Madly, Deeply also caught my eye because our main characters are a lovelorn romance author and a divorce lawyer agree to host a podcast that gives dating advice to viewers. I’m intrigued!
eARCs
There are a lot of May releases, but these are a few eARCs I have that I’m hoping to get to.
The Honey Witch – Sydney J. Shields
In all honesty, this was definitely a book that caught my eye at first because of the cover. The Honey Witch also has an interesting plot. The Honey Witch is cursed to never find true love and our main character is being trained to be the next Honey Witch. I’m so curious about this one.
Evocation – S.T. Gibson
If I’m honest I can’t describe this book to you after reading the synopsis. It sounds interesting, but I can’t summarize the summary for some reason, haha. I recently read A Dowry of Blood and even though I don’t completely get the hype, I want to read more by S.T. Gibson.
Savor It – Tarah Dewitt
Tarah Dewitt is a romance author I’ve been wanting to read something by for quite some time. Savor It is a small town rom-com releasing this month and this stunning cover makes me want to read it even more.
The Five Year Lie – Sarina Bowen
I’ve loved the romance books I’ve read by Sarina Bowen and I’m really curious to see what she does with a thriller. I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing, but I’ll soon find out when I pick up The Five Year Lie.
The Paradise Problem – Christina Lauren
Christina Lauren is an author duo who write books that make me laugh and I’m excited about The Paradise Problem. All I know is that our main characters fake being a relationship to received a massive inheritance. I have a feeling this is going to be messy, haha.
Physical TBR/Backlist Books
As usual, I’ll choose three random books from my shelves that I’ll try to read in May.
The Summer of Broken Rules – K.L. Walther
We’re heading in to the summer season, so how can I not pick up a book with the word summer in the title? The Summer of Broken Rules is a book I’ve heard great things about and I have a feeling it’s going to be an emotional one.
Renegades – Marissa Meyer
After loving The Lunar Chronicles, I knew I needed Renegades on my shelves by the same author. I’m actually surprised I haven’t read this one yet, because I even met Marissa and had this one signed. I have a feeling this isn’t a typical superhero story.
Pack Up the Moon – Kristan Higgins
Pack Up the Moon is a book I discovered while watching a reading vlog on YouTube and I was intrigued. I know this is going to be one that makes me cry, but I have a feeling Pack Up the Moon is going to be a beautiful book. It gives me a bit of P.S. I Love You vibes.
So that’s my May TBR! Have you read any of these? Or are you planning on reading anything special next month? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
