We have a lot of eARC’s and we want to promote them a little bit more. So we decided to do some more Bookish Beginnings On Friday. Today I wanted to share the beginning of A Good Place to Hide a Body. I already talked about this book a little bit, but now it’s time to read the first few sentences. Let’s take a look!

‘Can you come round?’ Dad says tremulously.
‘Of course. Are you OK? Is it Mum?’
‘No!’ He almost shouts it. ‘Just come quickly. The garden…the…body… we need you, Penny.’
For women of Penny’s generation, being on hand for elderly parents is just part of life. But for Penny, things have become a little more serious…

When she receives a frantic phone call from her parents one night, with express instructions NOT to call the police, Penny rushes over at once. But they haven’t had a fall. They haven’t forgotten their computer passwords. They’ve killed someone. And his body is lying in the garden, right next to the rose bushes.
Everyone is capable of murder. They just need to meet the right person.

I scrub frantically at a smear of blood on my hand. The scene I’ve just fled from flashes before me, over and over, my parents’ garden stark in the moonlight. I rub my eyes as if I can wipe away the stain of it, but it’s no good. I can still see the silver glint of the scythe, the scarlet petals scattered everywhere and …. I shudder. I can’t bear to think of it.

This synopsis sounds like my kind of book! I am intrigued by the first couple of sentences right away and I just want to keep on reading haha. What happened, what lead up to this and what will happen next? I’m so curious!
