We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve and that 2023 will be your best year yet. This year I just spend it with my family, we had a very chill evening, played a boardgame and listened to a ton of music. Here in the Netherlands we also do fireworks and my dad and my brother usually have a lot of it. But because the weather was not so great, a lot of wind, they only lit two pieces and afterwards we went back to our game haha.

Christmas was also spent with family. We exchanged (a lot of) presents, had amazing food, spent time together and just had a great time. I really enjoy this time of year, I usually help my mom with some of the cooking, make sure the table looks nice and try to get everyone together to play some games haha. Other than that I have been relaxing a lot. I was really overwhelmed and super tired. After a week of nothing I’ve started to feel better and now I’m trying to finish my studies this week.

I honestly went a little crazy at Edelweiss… And I feel really bad towards all the unread eARC’s I still have. I downloaded 12 new eARC’s…. Oops.

I had hoped to read a couple more books around Christmas but it just didn’t happen. Since my last update I’ve only finished Gallant. I am very happy to have finally picked that one back up. Somehow I haven’t started a new book yet either so now I’m debating what I want my first book of the year to be. The pressure is real haha.

I haven’t been watching that much shows somehow. But I have seen a couple of fun things. I watched Mathilda the Musical, it was amazing! And of course I watched Emily in Paris season 3, still fun even though it can be cringey haha. I finished the final season of Dead to Me (bawled my eyes out) and I started Never Have I Ever season 3. So I guess I watched more than I thought, maybe that’s why I haven’t read that much haha.

I’m not sure when it started but I feel like I have been following Jorge since I downloaded TikTok. He has been working on EPIC the musical, a musical about all of Greek mythology basically. And he finally released the first album on Spotify. This is the Troy Saga and there are just a couple of songs. I don’t remember hearing any of these on TikTok before the album, but now they are alllll over it haha. Anyways, I have been listing to this album a lot and I can’t wait for the rest. The small snippets we’ve been getting have been amazing and it’s just such a cool project.
